Not to mention that the Rules tell us to use the disc whenever possible. So if there is a discrepancy between the cover and the disc...the disc wins.

Exactly. And when playing the disc, what we see are deleted scenes.

So, deleted scenes gets my vote. Not only is it correct, but it follows the rules. Win-win.

Alright then, clever cloggs, what happens if a disc has both 'Outtakes' (which appear to be actually unused scenes) and a 'Gag Reel' (which are bloopers) then?

The same that happens if we have a "Making of" and a "Behind the Scenes": We tick the matching checkbox (which in this case would be "Featurette").

What I find strange is the discussion on this topic.
Skip, it's usually you to say that we take the actual data and not any information given from cover or menu (I remember your (correct) answers here to questions regarding videoformat, cast, crew, subtitles).
Why do you think that this might be different?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I gave my opinion, that's why. I don't think he ever agreed with one of my posts. I run a sql data base, a game server. If I see am error I fix it. Otherwise a player will not have things working as they should. The same here. What good is a data base with wrong information in it? Isn't it the job of this community to audit profiles and fix the errors. You claim that you want DVDP to have less errors than IMDB, but tell us to put an error into the data base???? Ok make up your mind.

Its tricky, but I am sure every user can differ between outtakes and deleted scenes, as we are all intelligent movie nerds

So I would go for Deleted Scenes.

I would not have a problem with someone going into an empty or new profile and putting in as features whatever is listed on the disc menus; I don't think there's an obligation to watch all the special features to see that they're really what they are.

Having said that, I also think that if they are verified to be something different from what they're called, and you document that in the contribution, it would be out of place to vote No to that contribution.

but we follow the menus, and like I said if the menus say outtakes, they are outtakes, if the menus say deleted scenes then thy are deleted scenes.

Have you read what myself and others have said, at all? Have you even checked the actual contribution rules? I even provided a link for you... So where do you get this "we follow the menus"? Where do the rules say that? It's baffling that while you've given all the right arguments you still arrive at the wrong answer...

As I pointed out, the rules do not say that whatever's listed on the cover or in the DVD menu trump actual content - because it doesn't. Instead the rules on features describe various kinds of features in detail, and subsequently tell us what boxes to check for them. So per the rules, we look at the content, and then turn to the rules to see which checkbox to tick for it. Nowhere does it say, as you claim, that "we follow the menus" instead.

Oh Tim, have you actually read the Rules, if you have then I presume that you do understand the following from the Introduction

The authoritative source for information submitted should be the DVD itself.

Please take note that it does not say amything babout the Cover but ONLY the DVD ITSELF

The DVD contains deleted scenes. I don't see where you are going with this.

Ace:

I am basing everything on the data provided by the OP. He says the menus call the item Outtakes, not deleted scenes., If that is correct then they are Outtakes, if there are also deleted scenes on the menu then that is fine, but that is not what I understand the issue to be.

What I am seeing is yet another case of the data saying one thing and users standing I thiink it THIS way. Okay, I don't care what you think , Joe Blow thinks or even if think they are deleted scenes...THAT is a local decision and not one for the Online. For the Online the answer is SIMPLE, they ARE Outtakes.

Wow, this thread got busy since I last visited.

To be perfectly clear, the cover says nothing of any features, the insert/booklet calls them outtakes.
The disc menu calls them outtakes.
They are not outtakes or alternate angles or extended scenes, they are truely deleted scenes and I submitted them as such after the first 5 or so replies.

I'm happy to see the concensus is content overrides labels.

The data isn't what the menus say. It's what the feature actually is. If the menu listed the wrong running time for the movie, would you go by the menu instead of the feature?

Indeed.

If the menu had said Photo Gallery and you click on it and it's a theatrical trailer...you'd enter Trailers, not Photo Gallery. There is no difference between this analogy and what is going on with the OP's profile.

It seems that woola wants us to enter false data into the database. Funny that he would tell us to do so when he is so hot on false info on other maters.
