To go over it again, it only existed with the hyphen in a NON-CONTRIBUTABLE role.

You don't use that because the rules tell you to enter them exactly as credited. The exception is "Exception: If the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead."

Since this is one of the names where the capitalisation may not be solely the first character we need to determine how it should be capitalised.

It really couldn't be simpler.

You mean that you doubt that the Jean Claude Forest in front credits might be a different person than the Jean-Claude Forest in end credits ??
It's amazing to see the energy put in promoting, against CLT results, data that everybody knows as incorrect, and accept some DiLascio about an actor (or an actress?) for whom nobody knows even the given name... What is documentation for ???

That's why I proposed Jean-Claude Forest (credited as Jean Claude Forest), which was correct according to the CLT

But once again, my purpose is not to discuss one more time about that case, but show the inconsistency of some users' attitude about interpreting on screen data.

No one at all is suggesting that it's a different person. However, in his CONTRIBUTABLE role that is how he is credited. The role that CAN NOT BE CONTRIBUTED doesn't factor into the equation at all.

At this time both variants have 100% identical figures although I suspect that some may not be entered correctly.

There is no inconsitency if you want to follow the rules which most users are doing. It may be incosistent to how you want to do it but it's not incosistent per the rules. If you would like to suggest changing the rules in the Rules Committee, feel free to post there.

Edit: That's my last word on the subject in a thread that isn't related.

Needless to say, I agree with Forget 100% on this...including it being my last word on the subject.

This is the page of one Mr. Dilascio. As the text was written by Mr. Dilascio himself, I think that we can trust the fact that he uses Dilascio.

This example shows that without documentation, nobody can argue that DiLascio is correct. The fact that some users fight so hard to introduce in the database data that they know to be incorrect, or data that they don't know if it is correct, explains clearly why the online is a mess.

On this one surfeur is correct, my dear friend. DiLascio would not, as I explained earlier, be per the Rules , it would an ASSUMPTION , not unreasonable assumption, but not an assumption that should not be made.

Once again I have to retreat to my own life, when I was in elementary i had a Principal in elementary school named .Mr. Deleo, you andothers might assume, reasonably assume that the name if you saw a filmed credit of DELEO would be DeLeo, simply based on the De, but that assumption would be dead wrong.  Per the Book the name for should be Dilascio, using standard cap rules, DiLascio is an assumption, a reasonable one but an assumption nonetheless, and without further documentation should NOT be entered into the database.<shrugs>

Now this is just sad.  Instead of reading what I actually wrote, in the context of this entire thread, you cherry picked a section of a post to make it look like I said something I didn't.

I didn't say that 'DiLascio' was correct, I said that I prefered to enter the data correctly.  Not even close to being the same thing.  As I said in my first post, "If I had the actual name, I would do some research to see how he/she capitalizes it."

Please don't presume to tell me what I might assume.  As I said in my first post, "If I had the actual name, I would do some research to see how he/she capitalizes it."  If I had known that Principal, I would have asked him.  Since I don't, and didn't, I will use my best judgement.  Your judgement may be different but that doesn't make mine wrong.

Sorry, I've read this from the beginning, and from the beginning you advocate DiLascio. You say that you prefer to enter the data correctly, and for this you chose DiLascio, not Dilascio. You can send  as much as you want, you just show once more your total inconsistency in managing correct data. End of discussion for me, I'm fed up by hypocrisy.
