Who cares if it's a box set or not? A valid question was asked and it had a very simple answer.

Yes, a valid question was asked, it is in the title of this thread : "Not sure if this is a box set". And the answer is very simple : yes, per the rules, it is a box set. Nothing more to say, I agree

Beyond that, there is a difference between not being able to follow the rules, due to a program limitation, and not wanting to following the rules, because you don't like them.

In this case, there is no program limitation. I works locally perfectly, as all the other features that are not contributable (headshots, scene photos, custom genres...)

Two things wrong with your statement...

First, this isn't a local only feature like the others that you mentioned.

Second, how does it work locally perfectly?  Here is the rest of the rule: Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not.

I may have missed it, but I can't figure out how to make that part work perfectly in my local.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

There is a possibiliy to use manual IDs, which are very easy to implement. You even can use them for self made DVDs (familial events...). This is a local feature, for which, of course, contribution rules do not apply, especially the last part you quoted  "Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not."

But this is the 'Contribution Forum', not the 'Local Only Feature Forum'.  We are talking about contributions, so your point is what exactly?

I'm not the one who opened the thread. It began by one question ;"Is it a boxset ?"

Rules say "Yes, it is a boxset"

Some users reply, but if it is a box set, the program cannot allow contribution.

At this point, the discussion is finished. Four ways to solve the problem:

- change the program. Only Ken can do that.
- change the rules. Users may ask in specific forum. I just notice that nobody asked for that. Then Ken or Gerry as to modify rules if they agree with the request.
- violate rules. That is what you propose. But why violate them here and not for other aspects?
- manage the problem locally. The program allows that, and every user may do that immediately. I think this is, at that time, the only correct soution.
