It doesn't take any no vote to get declined.
I recently submitted scans for World Trade Center 2-disc. The voting was 12-0 in favor, with only one "Thanks" and one "this is tough one" (not sure if that was in reference to the reflective covers, or if they couldn't decide which they liked better). So it closes at 12-0 and gets declined...

I haven't bothered asking, I just guess the screener didn't care for it. I thought it was better in nearly every way, silver bg instead of bluish, much clearer pictures on back. The only bad thing was the "2-Disc Commemorative Edition" text on front ws lost to scanner glare.

I don't remember how I voted (must have been YES if the final tally was 12-0) but I do remember that I preferred the existing front (or back) and your back (or front).  I might have not voted at all.

Even 20 "YES" votes mean nothing. If the one "NO" vote is correct the contribution should get declined. The voting system is to help the screeners make a decision, the the majority doesn't win or make the decision here.

Wow, the majority doesn't win? Brillant! why not just have the screeners make all the decisions? i wasn't saying the majority should "win" i just asked if some users have more clout. a very honest question.
so if "YES" votes mean nothing i wont vote unless i can vote "NO"!

Listen dude, I was trying to explain how the system works, nothing more, nothing less. I don't need your attitude and/or cynic remarks. Keep them to yourself please.

i only give like i receive. i thought i was given attitude in your response so i gave some back. nothing more, nothing less.

If you thought The Dark Knight was giving you attitude, I think it was a case of you seeing something that wasn't there.  I took his comment as just an attempt to explain why a NO vote can be more important than a lot of YES ones.  Remember, the screeners don't always have the DVD to check your contribution against - they depend on those of us who have that DVD to alert them to any mistakes in the contribution -- and since none of us is perfect, there will be mistakes in our contributions, no matter how hard we try to avoid making them.  But if the screener doesn't have the actual DVD how could he know that errors exist in the contribution?  Only things like when someone submits a cover image that doesn't match the contribution's UPC/EAN are apparent.  Missing words in the overview are not so apparent -- either to the voters OR the screeners.  So if there are words missing or incorrect in the overview and 20 people don't catch it, I hope there will be that one voter who DOES catch the mistake and alert the screener accordingly.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate your post. There is no attitude in my initial post. But that's what you get when you try to help.

i didn't take it as "trying to help". if you looked at my original post i never asked if the majority rules for the voting system. i asked if some users had more clout. i also asked where MC info was on back.
i got my answers in other posts. not "even 20 YES votes doesn't matter" , which i never asked how a NO vote can be more important than a YES vote ( ?) so if i asked "where does it say USHV on the case and i get a "YES votes don't matter" response i take it as attitude. sorry.

You asked if some people had more clout, he replied telling you why it may appear so...  Simple as really...

He did! If you don't want to see it and choose to ignore the explanation given, it's your problem, not "The Dark Knight"'s.
The only thing that was (probably) missing was the introducing sentence:
"No it's not that some users have more clout than others, the voting system is about correctness of contributions, so ... [continue with "The Dark Knight"'s initial post here]"
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

i was just wondering if there is a way to tell when a contribution is declined what it's declined for? I tried to contribute info on "Van Helsing" and it was declined. it had like 4 yes votes and one no. the no was something like "MC should be this" without documentation or a reason why it should be. is the reaon it was declined because the no voter has more clout than the contributor and the 4 yes voters? it kind of makes the whole "voting" system pretty wack. it reminds me of "Hell's Kitchen" where Gordon asks one chef to pick two chefs up for elimination, only to go and choose whoever he sees fit to eliminate. i wanna know who is DVDProfiler's Gordon Ramsay!

Ok, let me explain my reply to you. I was trying to tell you, that it is not about how many votes or who votes. It's about the things that the voters point out to the screeners. That's what I wrote in my post. I tried to answer your question. You didn't give a UPC or anything so I couldn't look at this profile. You asked if certain voters had more impact on the outcome and I tried to explain to you that this voting system is only there to help the screeners and the voters are there to assist if you want to say it like that. The reasons for the "no" votes are in my oppinion the most important part of the voting process. If a voter finds a valid reason to vote "no" the contribution should be declined. Your attitude towards my answer is really getting me annoyed, please just leave it alone.

@samuelrichardscott  You are absolutely correct but it seems that brimac5477 just doesn't want to understand that I answered his question.

I'd just let it go. I don't think anyone other than brimac5477 took offence to your post. And rereading it I still can't see it. You gave an perfectly logical answer to a question and I didn't see it as anything else than trying to be helpful.

If brimac5477 chooses to (continue to) see it otherwise that's a pity, but so be it.  BTW I've greenarrowed your initial post.

Cheers,
Steve

Talking about attitude, how about opening a topic with such a shouting title (all capitals, and two exclamation marks)?
