Was there ever a consensus about how we should handle Ponyo?

I don't have time to find the thread but, if I remember correctly, Ken allowed the official website to be the source for a film that had no crew credits.  I would think the same could be done here.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Indeed, This is the thread

I see no problem listing the cast (as uncredited) and crew from the official site in this case.

Then I sorely wish Taro was still around, since the official website is in Japanese.

Dang!

I clicked on this thread and saw Taro had responded, but I was reading an old reply.

The Disney site lists the English cast which, I assume, we would use for the Disney release, and some of the crew.  Not ideal, I know.

Yes, I expect we can use the Disney site for the English cast, but the Disney release also includes the Japanese language track.  Now having it with that track and subs I expect never to listen to the English dub again.

Sigh.

Romanizing names is not simple since they can use archaic readings for kanji that are no longer used in everyday Japanese. If you are very lucky they include a hiragana (phonetic Japanese) as a guide.

The big question... how do we credit the cats?

The cast aren't the problem.  If cast are credited without roles then roles can be taken from a third-party database.

It's the crew that's the problem.  The crew have no credited roles either, and we're not allowed to take those from third-party databases.  That's what we need the official website for, because Ken said we could use that.

Cats, not cast. Yes, as in felines.

"The first verse of Ponyo takes 1 minute and 50 seconds. I had to force 400 of names into it, so I cut all of the position titles and just arranged them alphabetically (note: not by ABC but in Japanese style A I U E O order). Even the company names weren't given an order of superiority. From large companies like Toho and NTV to tiny studios like Anime Torotoro, all of it is alphabetically. Furthermore, I even added the office cleaners of our studio and the nursery staffs to it. And to a space that was left open I added Shachi, Makkuro and Ushiko, the 3 cats that live in our studio who we fed too much and gotten fat.

Sorry ... thought that was a typo.

Figured they'd be handled as any crew whose role isn't tracked.
