AHHHH but there are those who have invested in HD not BD, and now they have to switch, they will go buy a combo deck.

I am not so sure about this, at least not to the degree that this will make LG a big winner. Yes, some people may want to ditch their HD DVD player and buy the combo, to save space maybe, but others will probably just add a Blu Ray player.

I agree.  A few may buy a combo player, but people who bought into HD DVD already have a player.  Why spend around $800 for a combo player when they can spend $400 or $500 to just buy a Blu Ray player and have both formats covered.

Like I said a few, who have "space constraints" will go the combo route (problems and all), but I actually would not be surprised to see the combo players go the same route as HD DVD.  Why would any companycontinue to invest in a dying technology?

If prices get down that much, will LG be a big winner still?

Sure, being the last ones to sell HD DVD player will give them their share, but I doubt they'll be the laughing third ones because of this.

Anyway, I own a PS3 (Region A, bought here in Taiwan) and am planning to purchase my first Blu Ray titles soon

Now I'm just waiting for more BluRay players to hit the market here in Denmark - and the prices to drop a bit... :-)
