Sorry, I never stated that these media should get UK locality! I'm well aware, that the production has little to do with the destination locality...

The only thing I wanted to point out was, that the rather distinct statement

This backcover is a German release: it contains the German FSK-12 Sticker.

This is the reason, why I did not insist in 50 is UK. Sometimes like here, there is only one UPC - and only one company producing a disc - but many covers using the same UPC/EAN for many locations. This is why the locality is NOT checked for the UPC being valid for the specific locality...

Do you have any idea why this has the British 'exempt from classification' wording and find-DVD describe it as a UK DVD with release date and RRP?

These are all printed on, not stickers.

Indeed: this is not only a British release, or only a German release, but a release intended for both markets - and probably more. The UK users will immediately recognise the "Exempt" logo and will therefore be sure it's a UK release, and the German users will immediately recognise the "FSK-12" logo, and will therefore be sure it's a German release. The reality is that it was always intented for multiple markets. Generally, you'll find that such discs are submitted into multiple localities - each under the same EAN.

If I remember correctly, I purchased both of these when Virgin Megastore in New York City was going out of business.

Since Virgin had its headquarters in London, England, chances are that several, primarily EU intended releases, were distributed abroad to the U.S. and Canadian markets for example.
Also, the other way around is not uncommon.

Still, in this case, the evidence is quite clear that these are releases originally intended for other markets, mostly the EU.

I'm still not clear how I submit non-US releases because I don't see locality in the contribution data.  I encountered another one I was unable to submit, also a music DVD:

If you're adding a new profile, you should have the option to add the UPC, title, and locality, as illustrated here:

As you can see, by checking the box at the bottom of the 'Validate EAN Entry' window, you can edit the profile before adding it to your database.

OK, I think I understand the problem...
a) When adding a new profile to your local database you can combine an European EAN number (13 digits) with the locality US. But when you try to contribute such a profile, then the contribution fails the check for this anomaly and the system refuses the contribution.

b) You don't know how the locality can be set, because it is not included in the edit profile dialog...
There are two dialogs, where the locality can be set. The first option was already pointed out in the preceding post: When a new profile is added to the local database, you can alter the locality before the profile will be added. The second option - when the profile already exists in the database - is hidden in the menus:

What do we do about those intended for the EU like those above?

The number has to match the country in which it was first released. It doesn't matter where it was purchased.

I get that, but there seems to be some disagreement in the discussion above.

If you mean the two titles you asked about in your initial post, the consensus seemed to be:

5099921658297 John Adams: American Classic – United Kingdom
7318599916781 Christian Lindberg: The Total Musician – Sweden

In case why you are wondering that this title couldn't be added to the Profiler DB, that most likely is because this is a bootleg, with a questionable EAN number (yes, 13 numbers) which give 0 hits on Google.

The link on Discogs shows clearly that this is not an official release.
Then again, Discogs could be wrong of course, but still.

Please read the contribution rules regarding the type of allowed and disallowed entries.

Yeah, that sure looks like a bootleg to me. Certainly nice to have if you're a fan, but it should not be contributed into the database.
