Correct upon what basis, Rick. Rgo's GUESS. Ace's GUESS. Guesses are guesses, they are not CORRECT, they may be out of dumb luck. I repeat out of dumb luck. Define ciorrect, do you mean "correct" name, guesses do not determine correct name, unless I miss my guess Rho is not Robin Wright Penn or Kate Bowes Renna or tHOMAS hADEN CHURCH, therefore he cannot speak with authority, he can only GUESS. None other than Ken himself has said, we are not after CORRECT names. We are merely after the most commonly credited name, and hhe did not mention parsing as an issue, yet people think parsing is so important that every time someone raise it it 20 pages and full of garbage from the likes of Rho, who wants to guess and evidently doesn't give a  ---- about a functioning link system. I don't give ... about a functioning link system for ME, but i recognize that there are users who do want it and consider it crucial. It is right now broken, almost irretrievably, and following Rho will only continue to deepen that break. I will NOT follow Rho in his selfishness, i will continue to work to create a system in which linking can function.

Yes...really, Rick. It is terribly simple.

You keep saying it's broken yet when evidence is given that it is statistically better to go 1//23 on a maiden name than 1/2/3 you fight it.  Really bizarre but, as you say, not surprising.

Rick:

I have explained TJHIS repeatedly and it is not hard to understand.

It is diificult in the extreme to go from 1//23 to 1/2/3, documentation expecially for lesser known actors who may not get interviewed. It also affects ALL acrtors, not just some, males and females alike. Ignore that Tommy Lee Jones is a well-known actor and interviews with him would be easy to locate. If there were no interviews, the only way we could document  Tomm//Lee Jones to Tommy/Lee/Jones is to have access to things we cannot have access to, like his DL Application which would list Tommy/Lee/Jones. Therefore we would be trapped with equally bad data Tommy//Lee Jones is not correct and you want Correct and we can't document it. 1/2/3 is a more neutral position because it, may take some research, and there will be instances where the research will not solve anything. No answer is perfect, Rick, unless we start documenting each and every instance of parsing in order to Contribute, that will eliminate many Contributors. 1/2/3 is simply the most neutral and the typical;ly the easiest to move from to something else.

Good grief, am I speaking Greek or something, this is the easiest concept in the world of data.

Good grief, am I speaking Greek or something, you keep speaking of consistency just for the sake of being consistent and everytime someone wants to change a name you insist you know better [ FACT that I know far more about naming than thee] and fight the change with tooth and nail, most of the time being proven wrong.

surfeur said it best:
We can go nowhere waiting for documentation that will please the most sceptical of us, or go ahead with data that an impartial analysis shows to be correct with a high probability.

And, for the record, if Lee was Tommy Jones' maiden name(which is what I referred to above)  then I would vote for T//LJ

Why Rick. men can and do have double barrelled last names. Are you guessing?

No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
