I do find it very interesting that you have that spike in the mid 60's...

Well, that's my late teens, so that's when my love for movies really first blossomed.

It's definitely something to do about getting older...

Very few new movies excite me. I can predict their plot points or at the very least certain beats what will happen next. Mainly because I have seen similar stories unfold many times in other  movies before. And given the choice I'd rather watch older movies doing that stuff for the firsts tim Han seeing the umpteenth repetion in a newer film.

Another problem is, that we just know too much about films are made, how they are structured, how they hit their beats to create emotions. They just can't make us care the same way as they did when we were young.

I miss watching films like if I were a teenager, being surprised by plot twists, by jump scares even.

I Think part of our problem with the latter year titles being bought would be the freshness of the title  compared to the older films as  we have seen time and time and time again.. A new title is released and it is of upmost importance to own that title .. yet if a title is re released in blue ray form the 40's or 60's  and it is on TV  all the time  . .we may not rush out and buy it...

My list seems to show a spike for 2007 .. yet my over all list is fairly spread out from the 30's to the 10's ..
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.
