And i am not sure why it would matter if the FILTER section was showing.  That is a different part of the program.  If you enter into the filter 'window' then it will behave as it should

But if you type into the GRID then it should react as a grid does.

Glad it is working for you <G> It used to work for me.

I don't think I have ever, and I mean ever, typed in the grid.  I have always used the "Type a title to find" box.  I did, however, just try it and 'Conan' is the title that comes up immediately...it is the first 'Con' in my list.  I also tried with several other letter combinations and it worked as expected.

Are you talking about the Filter section when you say 'Type a title to find box'?

Oh .. i get it you mean the little box at the top.  That is just another entry for FILTER.  It doesn't jump you to the section of the profiles but filters and shows those with the characters you type.

If i wanted to get to the section starting with 'na' this wouldn't do it.

Use the filters, uncheck substring and et voilà you get all movies starting with 'na'?

Why do you make your life harder on purpose?

?? not sure what you mean by harder on purpose.

I just loaded a new 3.8 on a laptop but could only get 50 movies loaded as i cant find my registration info.  BUT if i type 'a s' it jumps past the first 30 or so and goes directly to 'A Sound of Thunder'.

Nothing hard about that .. I want to find out why it has stopped working like that on the big system.

No need for a personal attack.

Thanks

I understand that.  What I did, however, was try it your way...typing in the grid...and it worked as expected.  If I typed 'con', it jumped to 'Conan'...the first 'con' in my collection.  I tried it with other combinations as well, and it worked each time.  Not sure why it isn't working on your system.

Have you tried perfmon.exe /res to monitor what's going on at the moment when your system hangs? Any I/O or CPU peaks?

For these oddities i have come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with my install/update of dvdProfiler.  That is all i can guess.  I have restored my backup of last night on my laptop and everything works well.

I do have questions about BACKUP and have created a thread about that.  Once i get that figured out i will remove dvdProfiler from my system then install fresh.  Hope that that takes care of the gremlins.
