You sure don't know me at all my friend

So if the US President, the Canadian Prime Minister, the Russian President, the British Prime Minister or whatever other country leader is kill by a bunch of foreign mercenaries in the future it will be ok to come here and shout our happiness? Or it works only if the country is ruled by a supposed dictator, kind of like most of the Middle eastern, African or Asian countries (or ours so-called democraty...).

First off these are Libyans fighting for Libya, not foreign mercenaries. Secondly he was a dictator he funded the IRA for pete sake. Three i think how he treated his people in the last 40 years it's surprising that they kind of went off there nut when they found them.

You try living under that for 40 years and tell me you would not want to kill him.

That's human nature for you. You don't expect a slap on the wrist and off you jail with you, after ordering your snipers to take pot shots at kids.

Sorry to deceive you but most of them are mercenaries and now they will continue their job in Syria, but I guess it's fine again...

Giving the best living standart, the best medical system and the best education system in the Middle East is killing worthy now

He was not elected so what? My provincial governement is and I can tell you they rule no differently that if we were in a dictature... Any politician is a dictator, the fact he is or isn't elected is irelevent (the only difference being that one isn't for life, but as the next one will act the same way it isn't that different).

Crosby, Nash, Stills and Young wrote a song about another country where the state police shoot their kids for manifesting peacefully. I don't think the President was put to death for that...

Great thanks just spit on my granddads grave for fighting the Nazis. And no he wasn't forced to fight he  was considered an essential worker due to his farming expertise. But choose to fight.

Your saying that any one who trys and fights for anything is pointless cause we all end up in some sort of dictatorship. While to some extent i agree with you i don't believe it's hopeless. But you seem to have read to much into Orwell and are over trivialising everything.

And in the process insulting those who have tried to fight for a better world.

I continue to not see the point of bringing your grandfather or playing the nazi card here
It's kind of non related and a little bit childish to use it. What next? The Pedo Bear argument?

It's relevant because i understand from having a close family relationship with ppl from that generation. How important democracy and freedom is, and even if yes how screwed up our democratic systems are.

There's no need to just throw the toys out the pram and be totally defeatist. Seriously what do you believe in?

politically speaking? Nothing. No one, no system and even the absence of one is worthy of fighting for in my book...

I ignored nothing. "Good riddance to him." is NOT a political statement. The fact that you interpret it as such is your prerogative but that doesn't make it so . I'm done here .

The definition of the word Political can be:

Quote:
a : of or relating to government, a government, or the conduct of government

b : of, relating to, or concerned with the making as distinguished from the administration of governmental policy

If gloating over the death of a dictator from a country involved in a bloody civil war isn't political, then I don't know what is.

And it doesn't matter now what or who turned this thread political, because as the posts show, that's now what this thread is. This isn't about "political correctness" (which tells you something important about this thread right there) — it's about the rules of this forum plain and simple.

It doesn't take much thought to see how the subject and substance of this thread would be controversial. VirtualScot surely knew where this thread was heading from his original post, as several of his other similar threads here have done the same thing in the past.

If you want to bicker over what is "PC" and laugh at other's posts with multiple smilies, feel free. Did I like Gaddafi? No, but I'm not going to cheer here over his death. I'm done with this thread.
