Back in 2008ish. Sam and a whole lot of the DvD spot lot ripped me for arse paper for boldly claiming Blu-ray sales by 2012 will start to overtake DvD sales.

Actually you stated it would overtake by 2010. It didn't. I still stand by that Blu-ray will not become the out and out norm anytime soon. Also, they include the combo packs in BR sales figures rather than DVD sales figures. I bet of they included them in both, the story but would be a lot different.

The only time i stated it could have been 2010 if there had not been the format war. And if i remember correctly in that format war you backed HD-DvD

Don't bother going deep into the bowels of BPRM and getting something i wrote and just changing the date on it.

Sorry,
but your source is talking about a share of 35%.

Not only that, it is ignoring the drop following that record breaking week...

Week ending 17th September 2011: Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.8% vs 65.2%
Week ending 24th September 2011: Blu-ray vs DVD: 29.24% vs 70.76%
Week ending 1st October 2011:      Blu-ray vs DVD: 27.93% vs 72.07%

Now, I am not saying it won't happen, but predicting it based on those numbers is, in my opinion, a little optimisitic.

Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

Any chance that week was the Star Wars release?  If it was then the data is even more unimpressive considering that was exclusively a Blu release, and a big one at that.

Edit: Answered my own question.  It was indeed the week Star Wars was released.  Once again, the data gets cherrypicked to tell the story one wants to tell.

Once again, the numbers are skewed due to the fact that the Lion King's 1.5 million copies were Blu-ray exclusive.  What might the numbers have been if there had been a DVD only version?

The week ending 10/15/2011 will be a better indicator as I don't think there was a Blu-ray exclusive that week.
