I am proud to say I wave watched TV since the days of Ding Dong School (which was taken off the air to be replaced by Captain Kangaroo) and Mr. Peepers. I love how reality TV shows manipulate audiences the way a Hitchcock movie does. There are shows I get no enjoyment from, so I avoid watching them, but there are many entertaining shows on TV every day. I own dvds so I can revisit films and TV shows which are not currently on the air. I waken at 2 am and find a Criterion disc or The Best Years of Our Lives or some other favorite and enjoy an evening of insomnia. I watch TV as it airs, through my dvr and on dvd. I find movie theater experiences are no longer enjoyable, so I buy many recent films I watch once, because it is chaeaper and more pleasurable than going to a theater.
I will watch Shawshank Redemption, any Fred Astaire film, and many favorites on TCM whenever they air. Never missed captain kangaroo. As a kid I was in awe of Mr. Greenjeans. He could do anything. |

| | Posted: | | | | I'm suprised by some of the responses. No cable, no free TV watching. I have 3 TV's and the computer going as soon as I get off of work. News or regular programming on 1, Sports on 1 and a movie that I'm profiling on the other. It's good right now because everything is in re-run. But in the coming weeks it'll be regular TV with CSI and Big Bang Theory. And Contributions will slow down. | | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

I seeing that Disney is about to release Dumbo on Blue Ray . .Why? except for Walmart selling these on the first day for under $20 ..,, do enough customers belong to The Disney Program to buy this set? as I don't see a Title such as this set ( Dumbo restored) being downloaded to your P3 station .... ?? everything evolves I've been through 8-tracks,45's, cassettes, LP's, CD's that's where I stopped no i-pod for me. Movies are going to direct downloads to pc and flashdrives, there will come a time when DVD and BD will be obsolete. |

I'm not willing to sit through 20 minutes of commercials. If I'm over at one of my friends houses and we watch TV, it's almost painful to sit through all those ads. I don't have the digital box, so if I wanted TV I would have to pay for cable. If I'm going to shell out $60 a month for television, I don't want 1/3 of the watch time to be taken up by ads! I don't have a lot of time to watch anything. At most I have 2 hours in a day in which I might get to watch something on my TV. I'm not going to waste those precious moments sitting through commercials. If I want to watch a TV show, I want to watch the show. Of course, I do enjoy my educational television. The only channel I really miss having is KET. I'm sometimes tempted to get that digital box so I could pick up our 2 local KET channels, but they're like $70! | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I work at a video store. To DVR something, I would have to buy a DVR machine. To watch it when it comes out on disc, I can borrow it from my shop and pay nothing. If I like it and want to keep it I can work a bit of extra time off the clock. And DVRs aren't cheep. Plus they require a monthly subscription service...at least I haven't found one on Amazon.com that doesn't. Found one...but like I said...not cheep. $599.99 for the Moxi 3-Tuner 500GB HD Digital Recorder. $600 for a recorder  ? That's just a little outside my price range  . There's also the Magnavox MDR515H 500GB HDD and DVD-R for $230, unfortunately it's not sold by Amazon and I don't really trust the Merchants that offer it  . | | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |

Believe it or not there is a sequel to Gregory's Girl. Released in 1999. I don't wanna see that :-) I'd rather see Comfort and Joy, also with the charming Claire Grogan. The dating part in Gregory's Girl is so funny and sweet... |
