So-- do you Boxset your Individual titles?? |

I've setup boxsets for HD (with two children virtual sets for HD DVD and Blu-ray), TV stuff (again with multiple child virtual sets to further group each show), Hitchcock, Documentaries (broken down again by things like Space, Animals, Music, etc.), James Bond, Star Trek (movies), and so on.
I still use them extensively in my TV collection. That way I can look at my list and see 24, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, etc. Makes it easier to find the show without worrying about seeing all the seasons. It's great when someone wants to know what you have to watch. It's neat and clean. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

I find box sets often hide films from me. I store my DVD/Blu-ray collection alphabetically. I like using the title of the film (or TV show), but use the title of the boxset if I need to do so. There are very few cases where I sort a piece of the collection out of alphabetical order. One such case is "More Silly Symphonies" is next to "Silly Symphonies" instead of in the Ms where it belongs. But when I look for certain films, they are in box sets... finding a film starring Alec Guiness might be under its title or might be in the Alec Guiness boxset. Other actors have boxsets as well (Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, etc.), but so do directors (Michael Powell, Hitchcock, Boetticher, etc.) and genres (science fiction, horror, animation, etc.). So some Hitchcock films are sorted by their titles, others are in boxsets by Hitchcock, thus harder to find.
So the collection is as alphabetical as I can make it. I sort the collection in the Profiler by production date, so all DVDs/Blu-rays containing material from the 19th century come before 20th century stuff. Silent-era DVDs/Blu-rays come before sound-era ones. So I use the filters to find the films I want, and in the Profiler, I find "The Tall T" in the Budd Boetticher set.
Given that, why would I create artificial boxsets? | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| | Posted: | | | | I just have one tag "TV". I set it for my TV series, movies have it blank. I can toggle between the two or combined with just the one tag. |
