Right. I wouldn't be able to point out the post... but Ken did say the number of titles is the one that matters the most.

Does anyone know if Ken has specifically mention the wrestling DVD's? I cant think of another case of confusion like wrestling dvd's bring(i think other than these examples the credit lookup tool works great). i totally agree with the rules being one with the most titles "wins"!

Mark Calaway has been the only "real" Undertaker. For a while they had another dude dress up as Undertaker only to be destroyed by the original. I'm thinking the "fake" Undertaker was portrayed by a wrestler named Brian Lee, not sure, it's been a while ago. Mark Calaway is the only Undertaker to win the gold!! I could be wrong but I was a big wrestling freak from the mid eighties to the early 2000's!

While it has been a long time since I watched wrestling... I know they at least used to use credits within the actual show... like a lot of documentaries. non-standard credits.. yes. But credits all the same. And we are told in the rules to use whatever credits available if there is no standard credits.

Agreed, this is what should be used according to my understanding of the rules.

As for what to use. You have two choices. Use the CLT or give Documented proof the CLT is showing the wrong most commonly credited form... per Ken's statement. (see all the common name threads in the contribution forum). If the CLT can't be documented as being wrong (whether the proof supports the CLT or there is not enough info to prove it wrong) then we go with the CLT.

Agreed, this is how it should be but there is a small problem...the CLT is only as good as the data entered.  I had to vote no on a contribution for 'See No Evil' that was changing the name, from the stage name to the real name, based on the CLT numbers.  When I looked at the numbers, I found that the real name had been used for all the wrestling titles even though that name was never used in those titles.

MadMartian dude, i respect the hell out of you and all the help you have given me over the short years ive been a member, but there has to be a better way for contributing wrestling dvd's. now the CLT is wrong? i dont know what to do? i still dont agree with listing wrestlers "character" names. to me certain "stage names" are exceptions. i consider if they have wrestled in various organizations and keep the same name. now i havent read a "official" stand on wrestling dvd's (probably because they are viewed as not important by Invelos standards). examples of wrestles like this i can think of are, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Rob Van Dam, Lex Luger, Bam Bam Bigelow, Rick Flair, Steve Austin, etc. however wrestlers who use a "character" name  and have changed it should be credited as their real name as a way to be able to see their complete body of work. some of those are: Kevin Nash(Diesel, Oz), Scott Hall(Razor Ramon), Dwayne Johnson(The Rock, Rocky Maivia), Glen Jacobs(Kane, fake Diesel, Issac Yankem DDS), Mick Foley(Mankind, Dude Love),Sherri Martel(Sensational Sherri,Queen Sherri, Sensual Sherri, Sister Sherri), among others. also what about name changes like those of former ECW wrestlers Rhino(who became know as RHYNO) and Taz (who became know as TAZZ) when they became WWE stars? also if we have to use "match listing" as the credits all uncredited cast info should be removed from all contributions. how can it be "legal" to list a person not in credits who appears yet we cant list wrestlers by their real names when they have played multiple characters in their career? again WWE is "Sports Entertainment", its scripted television not to be considered like a boxing pay-per-view dvd. even judging by the small number of votes in this poll i made the names and how they should be contributed are all over the place. i just dont think its right to have 9 dvd's feauring the actual man Dwayne Johnson: yet 4 are credited to The Rock, 2 to Dwayne Johnson, 1 to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and 1 to Rocky Maivia(if we are to strictly go by the match listing as the credits)

Yes, there has to be a better way but, unfortunately, there isn't...at least not the way I read the rules.  We have to use the credited name and, in wrestling titles, wrestlers are always credited with their 'stage name'.

If Ken decides to make an exception, I am happy to comply.  Until then, however, I don't see how you can get around the 'exactly as they are in the credits' section of the rules.

As I said in my PM, I do understand the frustration, I just don't see a fix under the current rules.

So if this is the case Dwayne Johnson has to be credited 3 different ways? One for his movies listed as Dwayne Johnson, one for The Rock, and one for Rocky Maivia?? All these yet it's one man playing all 3 parts! Wow that sucks! So for wrestler Kevin Nash too? That is a terrible flaw. He had so many good matches as "Diesel" yet he has to be credited different for his matches where he wrestled as Kevin Nash? What about where "Diesel" is played by Glen Jacobs? What about the different Doink the Clowns? So the individual wrestlers who played this "character" get no credit whatsoever? In the case where there were 2 different Diesel's and Razor Ramon's the guys even looked different, yet it should be 1 credit for "Razor Ramon", 1 credit for "Diesel"?? I still think when a guy plays different "characters" the "stage"name shouldn't be used.

Until either one of the following happens...

1. The Rules Change
2. The system Changes (program update for linking)
3. Ken makes an exception for Wrestling DVDs

... That is the way we have to do it for the online database.

But as I said before... Ken has publicly said that he is working on the credits section for the next update and he even said he hopes it will do away with the need for the CLT. I imagine it will be a work in progress and will develop over the next few updates. But at least we know Ken is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.
