| Posted: | | | | This should makes things a little easier. I am indecisive whether I want a single name field locally as well, but probably yes... I wanted to point out that I found this through the DVD Profiler Twitter feed. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

"If an actor name is only a first name or stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cher, Madonna, Cedric the Entertainer & Queen Latifah." ? |

| Posted: | | | | Honorifics and Stage names are unusual cases and i think the current rules should remain as is. The parsing changes shouldn't make a difference | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

But it does still exist in the online database. This change only means that when you contribute and vote, you won't see how the name is parsed and the system will ignore any difference in parsing. When you download a profile, the parsing in the new profile will only be entered into the local if the name doesn't already exist. Otherwise, the name will be entered in your local database with the parsing that matches what is already in your local database, regardless of the way the name is parsed in the online database. I think the existing Rules on stage names, honorifics, suffixes, etc. need to remain. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Hal. Until (if) the program itself goes the way of a one field for names then the rules regarding honorifics and stage names remains. |

I agree as well. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
