My personnel opinion at the moment:
Title: Cult Horror Collection
Edition: 4 Movie Marathon

Title, because instead of 4 Movie Marathon with Cult Horror Collection you have a at least a bit of an expectation what you're searching.
4 Movie Marathon as Edition, because it is the descriper of a collection like The Criterion Collection, Oscar Edition, ...
(Even if not existing at the moment, you could also see it as seperator for different version. e.g. perhaps there will be a Cult Horror Collection by 4 Film Favorites  )

For my local database I would just use:

Title: 4 Movie Marathon: Cult Horror Collection

I would not use the edition field. I see this as the title of the DVD.

I don't care how people do it online since all my titles are locked but it should be easy to search for so the best option would probably be to put everything in the title field. For my personal collection, I would put the unique part of the title in the title field and the "series" part in the edition field, such as:

Title: Cult Horror Collection
Edition: 4 Movie Marathon

This is the way I believe it should be done. I think I will contribute it this way... and go from there on whether it gets approved or not.

I agree. Edition field should not be used for these. Should be that way for the online.

In Germany we similar packages from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
for Example (BEST OF HOLLYWOOD - 2 Movie Collector's Pack 100)

So they give every Collector's Pack a number...but its not on the cover...
Now I would change my mind and would also say:
Title: 4 Movie Marathon - Cult Horror Collection
and no Edition...

Perhaps their is something similar on the homepage of the Media Company!?

So like this...

Title: 4 Movie Marathon
Edition: Cult Horror Collection

Just making sure I follow you. I was originally thinking all in the title field... but wasn't really sure on it at all.

so tell me Pete .. How stripped down are these titles.. ?  Anamorphic widesceen or full frame?  5.1 DD  or Dolby stereo? Chapter stops within its own menu?  Price??  Thanks

As this is a series of releases, with different content, I am inclined to agree as it seems to fall under the episode rule.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Neither "4 Movie Marathon" nor "Cult * Collection" is really the title of any of these movies. But there's a whole series of "4 Movie Marathon" DVDs out there.

So it's really "4 Movie Marathon" that's the edition of this series - not only in DVDP sense but literally.

I agree -- "4 Movie Marathon" is the edition.  It is the common element linking all these collections together.

This seems the best way to me also.

If anything like the WB "4 Film Favorites" line, they are the exact same disc content as the individual releases. The one from that line I have even has the same disc ID as the eariler solo releases, just re-done on double-sided dvds! So whatever the existing R1 dvds of those titles have is more than likely the exact thing the cheapie box will have.

Question: When you have a large collection and you know I will see if I have the film Phantasm II, will it find it by a simple search then when it is not in the title? I find it important to create the titles the way that you can find every film you own when you search for it.

That is what the child profiles is for. The parent profile should be the title of the boxset that the movies are in.
