Miss Congeniality (1 and 2) DVDs were released with the same Disc ID at least 3 times: - Original release - 1 movie only. No problem, use UPC and original cover - 2 movies boxset - UPC was created for the boxset, the 2 movies were added by Disc ID, Cover of boxset - 4 movies boxset - UPC created for the boxset, movies already exist by Disc ID, not sure what to do with cover images, as the images are already assigned, but this is not a re-release of the 2 movies boxset...
I guess I am going to quit submitting this one. Okay, this happens all the time. All you need to do is create a new parent and then create any child profiles that don't already exist. If they already exist then you're finished. It really couldn't be easier than that. If anybody wants matching cover scans, they are welcome to do that locally. |

I cannot submit the ones from the latest boxset as they would remove the ones attached to the previous boxset. And I cannot use the ones from the previous boxset because they do not match. | | | Last edited: by kaput5 |

No, I am not getting confused, and I maintain my local database differently from the DVDP databse for some items. In this case, there are 2 UPCs, with 2 different images, which contain the same Disc ID. Let me explain: - UPC 1: Miss Congeniality / Miss Congeniality Armed and Fabulous - UPC 2: Miss Congeniality / Miss Congeniality Armed and Fabulous / 2 Weeks Notice / Divine Secret of Ya-Ya Sisterhood In UPC 1, the 2 movies are entered with 2 Disc ID, and both images are from the front cover of the boxset. Normal, as done per the rules. In UPC 2, the two Miss Congeniality have the same Disc ID than in UPC 1. Meaning that I cannot change the picture of the child to the boxset of 4 movies, as I would delete the previous one. But keeping the one from the 2 movies boxset is not correct either, as it does not reflect the 4 movies boxset correctly. And the other 2 movies (which do not have a Disc ID in the DB yet) would have the image from the 4 movies boxset. Not very logical. I have been thinking about for a while and I do not see how to submit the Miss Congeniality children correctly for the 4 movies boxset (I am talking about submission, not my own local DB), and follow the rules. Image is the issue, not the data. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Right. And the answer is that you're not allowed to change it. So the new box set will have a combination of new and old child profiles, sometimes even just old profiles. When folks download this box set, they will get all the child profiles. If they want to fix the images on the child profiles that were legacy, they are welcome to do so in their local. The most important thing that you can do as a contributor is to set up the parent profile so that they do get the child profiles. At least that way they get a complete set. If they don't like them they are always free to delete them or make fixes locally.
Personally, I would like to see the ability to attach multiple cover images to a given profile and just have the user choose which one they want, but it doesn't look like that feature is anywhere on the todo list. |

Quote: For almost every boxset I have, locally I have original posters (or original solo covers in cases of the 4 film favorites) for the covers and the boxcover for the parent. That's what I do for the movie box sets. Any bright ideas for what to do with TV sets? There must be something I can put instead of the same cover image for all 4 or 5 discs (ie. Pacific, Band of Brothers, Heroes, Dexter, etc) I'd either find promo art or pictures, or scan the innards of the boxsets for local child covers. I did this for my Tales from the Crypt seasons 2 (digi), 3-7 (slim cases inside). I even tried submitting them. 3-7 got approved as they were slimcases, but season 2 was denied as it was digi insides. I thought I shared those scans for anyone who wanted em, but can't find em with a google search and don't see them on my photobucket page, which I use to host almost all my pics. PM me if you want them for Season 2, or if you want original big ones of anything after, I still have all the scans on my computer. |
