How did I contradict myself?  If anything I made my point all too well.  Lucas knows the "fans" will breakdown and by this version if for no other reason than it IS Bluray.  This means a few years down the road he can rerelease on Blu but make it a different version.  "Fans" will again shell out the cash for yet another set of Blurays as he will again make them a set so you cannot just get the one or two you want.  Again Lucas is getting more of the fans money.  Don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan and I am well aware that I contribute to this frenzy as I purchase tons of his merchandise.

Remastering is so expensive that it has been done for years for practically every classic Disney animated film and so many of the other classics (such as Wizard of Oz). Yet he has created, what, sixteen different releases of the movie with only minor changes each time (though may be major issues with fans such as "who shot first") claiming that no movie should ever be completely finished or something like that? Now they are planning 3D releases as well.

He is so full of it.

Everyone must remember Lucas is infamous for sucking every possible penny out of over single fan.

Just because there is no theatrical release this time doesn't mean it will never happen.

You just contradicted yourself

It's exactly because fans keep demanding the original 1970's releases, with all of the flaws in tact (except for a cleaner picture, I suppose) that he is able to suck fans dry. If he releases 1970's versions, many die hard fans will never buy another version ever again.
