For something cute, this made everybody smile at our D&D game.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I felt the same way when we lost our faithful dog. The house seemed very empty without her and even though it's hard at first, eventually the pain will go away and you'll fondly remember all the nice times you had together with him/her. Some of the things I fondly remember are the walks we had together, her jumping on my bed to wake me up on Sunday mornings, watching TV together while I'm petting her, playing soccer outside (she loved running after the ball) and lots of of other fun, fun memories.

Sorry for your loss Kathy. Hope you feel better soon.
Always remember you the good times you had with him and don't think about the future you lost.

A very classic Dog clip always makes me  :

Sorry to hear of your loss. Try to think back of all the joy and happiness your best friend has brought you and remember that she is waiting for you on the other side.  We are going through the same ordeal now with our 15 year old corgi/lab mix. I rescued her from the kill shelter and she has been one incredibly awesome dog. But as of this year she has been having seizures and having problems holding her bladder. The other day we came home and she was lying on the ground with her toungue hanging out as she was about to pass. She pulled through it and the vet gave us seizure meds (Phenobarbital) which is working and she seems to be without pain and happy. She is content just resting in her bed and we carry up and down the stairs her although she still wants to do it her self. We are afraid of her having a seizure and falling down the stairs. Her appetite is not so good and she sleeps most of the time, but when she is awake she justs wants to be loved. I will be very sad when she is gone. My wife is so distraught she has been crying everyday and blames herself for the dog's decline as we got a new puppy this year and feels that the puppy has made Daisy give up on living. I wish I could convince her otherwise.  Kathy my condolences. I know how hard this is.  -Bill

Kathy, my thoughts are with you.

I know how sad it is to loose a dog, my dog (my avatar picture) died in November 2008 at the age of 16 years and 11 months old and I still cant bring myself to even change my avatar.

Thank you for all the kind words and pictures. Time does make things a little easier.

As an adult, I've gone through the loss of eight beloved dogs. Yet, the thought of going through life without a furry friend...unacceptable.

So, I will continue to love my cats and dogs and treasure the times we have. And, suffer the pains of loss when it is their time to leave me.

On the other hand, you were lucky enough to have those 13 wonderful years with her, Kathy.  I still know I'd be despondent if something happened to Ginger.

Our dog Daisy passed yesterday at the age of 15. My wife called yesterday while I was at work and she was hysterical as Daisy went into multiple seizures and was not coming out of them. during the seizures she was howling in distress. I heard it on the phone and the sound she was making broke my heart and I told my wife to get her to the vet and I would meet her there. She carried her out of the house and into the car crying as she took Daisy to the animal hospital. My daughter met her there and when I arrived Daisy was breathing hard and about to go into another seizure. The vet took me aside and told me it was her time and that I should put her down. It was the hardest thing to do. Daisy was a member of the family and to tell the vet to end her life was very emotional. The three of us were crying and saying goodbye as the injection was given to her and we were with her when she passed. Yesterday was my wedding anniversary. The happiest day of my life turned out to be the saddest.
