What a wonderful day. It was a little rainy but that was okay. I got to see the motorcade - I want one of those limos!

We seldom get 747s in Buffalo either and there wasn't enough time to see Air Force One land. So, after I got back home I raced to the airport plaza to watch it depart. Wow.

I wouldn't have hurried if I knew President Obama was stopping at Duffs for lunch He not only got chicken wings, he got some french fries and onion rings too!

I asked a friend of mine to tape all the news coverage - I wonder if I made it on TV?!?

Here in New Zealand it is the Prime Minister who is in charge.
The company I work for is in the throws of taking over the Parlimentary Services IT contract. I have had to fill in a SIS vetted security form to be able to work in Parliment. So I suppose I will get to 'rub shoulders' with all the top MP's here.

You couldn't pay me go see a politician regardless of the their level or party affiliation, or anybody else for that matter. And after my time in the military, the only line I stand in is the checkout line at the grocery store.

Why all this hero worship today, my friends and I have talked about that, be it movie star, sports figure, politician or whoever. I never could understand all this love or hate of someone you really don't even know. People of my era don't seem to be running around with someone's name and number pastured all over their clothes I might like or dislike what someone does or says, but I don't love or hate them. It seems like today you're supposed to love or hate everybody, and no in between. Hey I don't know them and I don't want to know them. Well, maybe Clint Eastwood, we could talk about jazz, the 110 accidentals in Charlie Parker's Ornithology, Thelonious Monk's Epistrophy or Mile Davis.

Our politicians, regardless of their party have sold this country and Western civilization down the tubes. And according to the news they don't know what is wrong or how to fix it. Answer to the first is GREED, A DISIRE FOR POWER AND POSITION. Now rhere are many international corporation and cartels more powerful than most nations.

The fundamental reason people run for political office is basic animal desire of one animal to control another. (Hey, look at me ain't I wonderful!).

I have worked with some pretty smart people, people with higher IQ's, with advanced degrees in math, science and engineering, than any politician, and not one has ever indicated a desire to be a politician or run for political office.

Why do think those with real power back anybody for a political office. Why do the big corporations donate to both political parties? By the time body gets to the US Congress, how many favors do you think they owe, do think they give a BRA about you the voter. Ever time there is a budget crisis, they come up with the big scare, they talk about cutting back education, police and fire protection services, but never the spending on the pet projects that their big campaign donors want.

The position and longevity of a politician is only a measure of how often and how many back sides they have kissed. How many of those clowns have even read or much less understand the bills they vote on. How many of the clowns that go around screaming something is not constitutional have even read the US Constitution much less understand it.

Red arrows, please.

I don't consider politicians, sports figures, movie stars etc. heroes. I certainly don't love them, I don't know them. As far as hate, well I don't hate anyone.

The visit of a world leader to my neighborhood is something I wanted to be a part of. I always make an effort to attend these type of events.

Whether it is the president, the Dalai Lama or Erin Brockovich, all of whom visited Buffalo recently, I am interested in what they have to say.

President Reagan and President Clinton came here too.

When I was in the Boy Scouts back in 1997, I got to see President Clinton speak at our National Jamboree. Of course he was about an inch tall, since we were so far back. My brother on the other hand, got meet him, when he toured his ship the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Then back in January Obama came to Elyria, OH (were I live) and gave a speech at our local college. I got to see him and his entourage drive by, since my apartment was on his route. Which can be seen here.

I was at that Jamboree too. Perhaps we traded patches

Might have. If you have any from Calumet Council, there is a chance.

Who's the boy in the white shirt? He looks like he could be Glenn Beck's offspring.

Tommy Rothrock? He's the son of a VP of the California Manufacturers and Technology Association. There is a slight Glenn Beck visage to him, isn't there?
