Hmm. Okay, in an attempt at keeping this in the spirit that I think VibroCount intended, my picks consists of relatively unknown films that I think are great, but that I also think have a lot of artistic merit. Those do not always go hand-in-hand for me. 

Primer - A shoestring budget time-travel movie with amazingly complicated but realistic logic, that requires at least two viewings to get your head around. Chances are you'll also want to check out one of the many explanations available online.

The Vanishing (Dutch original, not U.S. remake) - An amazing suspense thriller that really ought to have won the Best Foreign Oscar back in 1988, but was disqualified by the Academy because it had too much French in it to be considered Dutch. It's kinda fun to watch the U.S. remake afterwards to compare the two, but the original really ought to be seen with a fresh eye.

13 Tzameti - Another low-budget indie movie made by some really talented people. I saw this one blind, with no inkling of what the story might be, and I heartily recommend others do the same.

In Bruges - A brilliantly written (Oscar nominated for original screenplay) and amazingly funny comedy. In my eyes, Colin Farrell's best movie.

Both fantastic films - heartily agree.

I thought of a few more:

"In America" and "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" - Perhaps I'm partial to those of questionable immigration status.  I'm originally from San Francisco but now live in Salinas, California and can't drive more than 5 minutes in any direction without seeing people working in the fields.  Whenever I go to San Francisco and look at all the tall buildings I can't help but ask the question: "What have you done for me lately?" (Or should that be "...to me lately?)

"Quest for Fire" - I'd very much like to see a Director's cut of this.  Near the end the quest is successfully completed by the use of atlatls.  It's never shown how this skill was acquired.  I have the nagging feeling that the movie was to have been half again as long.

Not sure how much hype this does or doesn't get, but True Romance has always been a favorite.

There are some very nice films here. Good is good, and most of these are very good.
