| | Posted: | | | | OK ... try the following Click " Start -> Run" at the prompt enter " regedit" In the now opening window go to the key " HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" Click on "Winlogon" (Once!). In the right half of the window look for a key named PowerdownAfterShutdown and check it's value, it's supposed to be 1. If ther is no key named "PowerdownAfterShutdown" create it by rightclicking into the right half of the window and selecting "New" from the context menu. In the now opening window enter the values as to be seen in picture below  This is supposed to work under nearly all circumstances. EDIT: changed link to pic for getting rid of the funcity ad | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Disable the APM (Advanced Power Management) in the BIOS of your machine.
If it works then, check on the Homepage of Gigabyte for a BIOS-update. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Any idea what the setting for APM would be called? I have the following settings in the power management section of my BIOS:
ACPI suspend type: S3
Soft off by pwr-bttn: instant off
PME event wake up: enabled
power on by ring: disabled
resume by alarm: disabled
HPET support: enabled
HPET mode: 32 bit
power on by mouse/kb: both disabled
AC back function: soft off
EuP support: disabled |
