It's something to do with my network. When I run my connection over a VPN, I can download the profile list just fine, but it doesn't work from any of my machines while connected directly via my ISP.

On these machines have you tried changing the Online settings?

Tools -> Options -> Online tab

then check/uncheck "Use alternate connection method" (depending on its current state) and/or supply info about server authentication/proxy server if your ISP requires it.

You can Test Internet Connection after each change to see if it worked!

The Test Internet Connection button has always worked, and I'm able to download profiles and images individually by checking a profile in the list and hitting Online->Refresh DVD from Invelos. The only thing that doesn't work is downloading the full profile list.

I tried changing to "Use alternate internet connection method" and it didn't help. I don't have a proxy server, and my ISP doesn't have one (at least, I've never had to configure one for anything else)

I turns out I was able to get the profiles downloaded by following the FAQ#2 EXACTLY. I had previously downloaded the OnlineList.dod file to the AppData/Local/DVD Profiler folder, but when I put it in MyDocuments/DVD Profiler, dvdpro found it and loaded it. I can now add DVD's, but I still can't download the profile list from the application.

Try to force it to download the complete files by using DVDProfiler menu "Online -> Refresh Online Profile List..." IMPORTANT: While clicking on the Refresh link keep the SHIFT-key of your keyboard pressed until the download window opens. This procedure is supposed to load the complete "OnlineList.dod" (about 18 MB in 10 parts).
Please come up and again and let us know what happened.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Tried a re-install, a new install this while deleting all the old stuff but to no avail
