"Technical Effects" doesn't qualify for a credit in DVD Profiler either. If it was the only effects-related credit, I'd track it locally, but I'm sure there are plenty actual "visual effects supervisor" credits to be found here as well, right?

Uhmmm, no.  This movie was made in 1933 and such credits were pretty sparse.

Then I'd track this credit locally.

having them both just seems wrong.

Does having both Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Lowe's seem wrong on MGM films?

---------------

If you're asking me, then yeah.  But that's why I remove it locally.  I always thought the Lowes thing was silly and had about zero value-add as far as data goes.  However it's not really pertinent here as Paramount is a single entity while Lowes/MGM were two distinctly seperate business units.

Not to mention Loew's Inc. was just a holding company that operated MGM's theaters until forced to divest them.

It's my understanding that Loew's owned MGM, which was it's production company, and that Loew's was the actual theatrical distribution company.

Quote:
To provide quality films for his theaters, Loew founded Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) in 1924, from the earlier firms Metro Pictures, Louis B. Mayer, and Goldwyn Pictures. Loew's Incorporated served as distribution arm and parent company for the Hollywood studio until the two were forced to separate by United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc. (1948), a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

I believe it's OK to put both production and distribution companies in the Studio fields.
