Quote: I was holding my breath all day waiting to see you get slammed for this type of post, i guess the hypocrites reveal themselves yet again. You might take a moment to reflect on the difference in tone between TigiHof's post and some other examples of "this type of post" you're apparently referring to. TigiHof was civil and matter-of-factly, while on the other end of the spectrum, we've seen such threads where the poster basically started out by calling all the voters idiots. IMHO, that makes all the difference: you get what you give. For the record, the last time a post like this was made, the tone was very "civil and matter-of-factly." In fact, it was... "Please take note that there are some significant errors in both Cast and Crew in a recent Contribution." While there were no real details, you can't get any more civil or matter-of-fact than that. And what, pray tell, were the replies to that post? "Is it really necessary to bring something like this to the forum? We have a voting system for this." "Darn it, skip. If you're right. VOtE nO(!) and be quiet, please......" "Completely unnecessary thread. As others said, there is a voting system that this is for." Yes, Skip has made posts similar to what you describe, but he has also made civil ones and he still got flack for it. The comments given indicated that this type of thread was unnecessary. So, as my first post hinted at, I was waiting to see whether or not that sentiment would be expressed here. Basically, was it message or messenger that was the problem. Seems as if I have my answer. Also, for the record, you, T!M, did not participate in that thread so, the usual suspect comment was undeserved. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Sorry Martian but not everyone can disect each post without seeing personalities like you (and others) seem to be able to. If someone is known for being involved in almost every argument on the forum happens to post something and catches crap for it I say it's due more towards the general attitude that person typically shows toward others. I know I'll admit the few posts I read of the Professors I typically do from a defensive position as compared to a neutral one. Years of going back and forth with him and watching him go back and forth with countless others has tainted me towards his posts. Human nature I guess. Dr. Professor is certainly one to jump on people here (something that would be hard for anyone to deny since he himself admits to doing it). In my experience "people" have less patience with those who attack others and even look for attacks where they may not be present. Tigi on the other hand hardly posts here anymore. Is it right his post didn't get the same reaction a similar post from the Professor got? Probably not. But it's like the old saying, if you don't want to get crapped on don't act like a toilet! You can't constantly be arguing with people and then, when you decide not to, expect everyone to just go with it. |

I am not trying to defend Skip here, I was just refuting the argument that it was tone, not content, that people took issue with. It is neither tone nor content, it is reputation and that is what is sad. As to the rest, I sometimes forget that I have been trained to take each and every post as an individual entity. If the post is civil, I will respond in kind regardless of the poster. It took lots of time, and a desire to keep a steady paycheck, for me to get there...though, I will admit that I am not always successful but, as you said, that's just human nature. I do, however, understand where you are coming from. A lot of bridges have been burned and I have to remember that...and, yea, green arrow for reminding me. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. For the record, no one has burned any bridges in my book. i treat each post, or try to on it's own merits or lack thereof. I do not have the time or the energy to waste on holding grudges and I feel very sorry for those who do so, they must be very miserable people. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!
