It looks like a rating symbol to me.

So, the rating in the online profile is correct.

No, that's the Universal release. The release I'm referring to is the GoodTimes release (UPC 018713810236).

Thanks for the pic Cvermeylen.

So I guessed wrong in my post, but this was the only profile I found for this movie without rating logo and R1.

Edit:
The one Corne posted, was the one I guessed.

I own both DVDs. I meant the very first release of GoodTimes.

I can't see a rating logo, also on front not, so if it's not on the spine, there's none on the cover and to follow the rules: NR.

Ken or Gerri, can you rule on this?

Because Corne said that:

Quote:
The film is R-Rated, because at the end of the film a clip of the R-rating shows.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it's obviously rated, just not on the box. It would seem silly to put NR on the profile when it has a rating.

(Note, this isn't against anyone who are for the NR as per rules, but IMO it doesn't make any sense to follow the rules to the letter, here.)

In Germany this is called: "Keine Regel ohne Ausnahme".
Means something like: No rule without exception.

There is no Rating on the Actual movie OR at filmratings.com, bot of which are listed as alternate sources for the rating info in the Rules?

Try just "Halloween III" without subtitle at filmratings.com. Then it should show up.

As I said... I believe this is covered in the rules since the info is on the DVD itself.

But Skip... as the rules are written right now... filmratings.com is only for Rating Details.

The facts: At the end of the main feature there's a clip with the R-rating. But this rating isn't printed on the DVD Disc, nor on the DVD cover.

FilmRatings.com:
Title:              Halloween III (1982)
Rating:            R
Distributor:      Universal City Studios, Inc.

The rules: "Use the Rating shown on the DVD cover. When there is no rating, or an unrated version of the film on the disc, use the NR rating."

There is no rating on the DVD cover, but on the other hand there is a rating of the main feature just after the end credits. So what is in this case conclusive within the context of the rules: the info on the cover or the rating at the end of the credits? I honestly can't tell, so I hope some other contributors can

Several distributors (notably Anchor Bay) don't print the rating on the case even for MPAA-rated movies.

I would say to include the rating, esp. because it is on the disc itself. If a dvd has the blue rating card, that should override the cover IMO, just like runtime does. More misprints on covers than disc content.
