Based on the additional data and after reading some of the article, I have to agree with the conclusion that Church is his sole last name. Just another example of why I suggest more careful researching, more than one source, and Wiki is to be no more trusted than IMDb.

Who except you has concluded this? The article specifically states that they don´t know.

If I remember, I'll phone the London office of the agency he's signed to tomorrow. So much easier.

This is getting more ridiculous by the minute - apparently we can't solve ANY parsing debate without contacting the person's agency...

Agreed 100%, but damn if I'm reading another 18 page thread which will no doubt be the exact same as the others.

You have know proven that you don't read for data, you read what you ant to read. But let me help the referenced article includes the following comment

"The Texas State Library and the Library of Congress both index him under 'C', which seals the deal for us.

Both of those resources are far more likely to be accuratye than any other named source, especially Wiki.. I agree with their conclusion. There is additional conflicting data, including a tjhird last name, or fourth depending on the POV. But for the moment based on the available information Church is the last name.

If that is true, which I don't think it is, Tim. Then I have to ask the question, why is parsing so important. I think I know what the answer is going to be, but i will wait and see.

So...why is parsing so all-fired important?

From the top of the article:

What is the real name of actor Thomas Haden Church?

Frankly, we aren't sure.

I am probably alone in this... but I personally have a bit of a problem with a source that can't be checked by the voters or the screeners for that matter.

Dr Pavlov
to use your words from above:
You have know proven that you don't read for data, you read what you ant to read. But let me help the referenced article includes the following comment: But.

Right after the "seals the deal for us" quote you seemingly stopped at the article give a huge "But" (not to be confused with some of the huge butts we have around here  )  and then continues to explain why they feel it is Hayden Church.

If it were not important, we would have a single name field. And I would indeed prefer this after all this endless discussions here. But as long as we have those fields, I want the last name aka family name in the last name field and the given names in the first and middle name fields.

BTW in the same way I came to the conclusion that the single address field used by google contacts is better compared to addresses structured into individual street, city, ZIP-code, state, country fields for many (but not all) purposes.

was doing some editing on Sideways and found Thomas /Haden/ Church.. looked into this unusual last name and found on Wikipedia the following quote: He was raised under his stepfather's surname, "Quesada", and later changed his surname to "Haden Church" (both names are in his family tree) . I then changed my edition of Sideways (024543175858) to Thomas /Haden Church.,
there  are a dozen  false entries  in the data base of Haden being his middle name.. I don't  have time to change the vast majority of these today, ( this post would be quicker for all you owners to look into your own data) and make he necessary changes to the others  or maybe not .. discussion?

Not to put a damper on this, but the wiki article is full of errors.  First it claims he was born in Yolo, California on June 17, 1960.  While there was a person with that name born there on that date, I see nothing to prove they are the same person...but let's ignore that for now.

One of their references, number 3, links to an E! profile that says he was born in 1961, not 1960.  Red flag number one.

Another reference, number 4, links to a biography at Filmreference.com.  That biography says he was born March 31, 1960, in El Paso, Texas.  Red flag number two.

Another reference, number 9, links to an article titled "FEARnet Goes to Church for Zombie Roadkill."  Note it says 'Church', not 'Haden Church'.  Red flag number three.

The biggest red flag, for me at least, is the sentence that reads, "Church later took a break from films and relocated back to his native Texas."  Now, many of you from across the pond and The Great White North may not understand this but, you can't go back to your native Texas if you weren't born in Texas.

Beyond all of those doubts, Church has a wife.  Her name, according to everything I have found, is Mia Church.  If his last name was 'Haden Church', wouldn't her's be as well?  While it is possible, I guess, I have yet to hear of a woman taking only half of her husband's name.

Edit:  I see a lot has gone on while I was doing my own research.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

So parsing is not important for you. But as I have explained, it is important for me as long as we have those three fields.

WHY? Forget the fields that's is BS for justification. Why is it important to you.
