Go to www.sonypictures.com/bluray and type in "Peter Pan". Nothing there. I don't think this is an official US release. I looked at some of my Sony BR titles and none have the amount of audio tracks this disc has.

There is a discussion over this going on at Blu-ray.com found here. http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=50172&page=3

The guy in post #46 has the one sold at Amazon and he thinks this is a Chinese disc.

It also looks like "Peter Pan" should be a Universal release in the US, at least that's who released the DVD.

The cover posted clearly shows that it says not for sale outside the US or Canada. If it wasn't released in the US, this is a counterfeit cover.

Looks like a bootleg to me. I don't think I've ever seen a legitimate release by a bigger company that only puts their UPC on the wrapper and not the case. Not my only reasoning for thinking it's a bootleg, but that along with what others have said, I'm betting it is.

Vittra:

That is certainly possible, though if it originated with YesAsia, I think they have a pretty good track record. I would need better images of the back cover than i have seen thus far. As I said if it had been released here i would have been aware of it, I am sure. But the Distribution Company being sony does not automatically make it a boot, since the film was co-produced by Universal and Columbia it very easily could hav an agreement that gives Universal domestic distribution and Sony overseas distribution rights.

So I am not prepared to call it a boot, but it is certainly curious, I give it that much.

Thanks for your continued help to get this right, Skip et al.

I can't get any higher resolution than this, so I hope it helps.  I made sure to get the spine which has a Sony ID (above the logo) - which si the same as the empty UPC field on the back.

High-Res Front Cover Photo

Once you guys settle on this, let me know what to do and I'll do it, add high-res cover scans and finish this up to do my part for this great community.  Thx.

It's possible, but I can find nothing that says this has ever been released by Sony on Blu-ray.

Considering what Blu-ray blanks cost when this came out, I doubt it's a boot. Can we get a picture of the actual disc?

It was released in some parts of Europe by Sony on BR (France, Holland, Germany - reviews for all 3 can be found via dvd-basen.dk) and two of them look to have the same audio, subtitle options as the one in question. Very very strange.

Here are fresh scans of the front, rear and DVD itself.  Since these are on Flickr, you can view and download these at full resolution - just click 'All Sizes' at the top of the picture, then choose 'Original' for the original, full-resolution scan.

A US disc would surely have an MPAA rating on it somewhere.

Apparently, this has been released on Blu Ray in the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Korea and others.

From what I have gathered and covers that I have viewed, it is probably a Sony release from the Asian market and probably a Korean release.

As odd as it sounds, I think someone made a custom US cover and repackaged Asian discs.

Or it's possible they intended on releasing it in the US so to save costs added the relevant bits and pieces. After all, UK Blu-rays are even starting with the US FBI warning screens these days when they share subtitle/language options with their counterparts and the discs themselves can contain a whole bunch of 'ratings' (UK, Ireland, German, Italian).

Sony does frequently do that, but they don't have US distribution rights. I wouldn't think they'd start printing stuff until they had those for sure.
