While I am still on the fence on this matter Alien... I would say the difference is in this case the feature was never on the disc. Unlike the slipcase which was part of the case at first.

well yes if it is only the printed page only as text and not a hyper link on the DVD menu than No it would not be admissible.. Plus if the content is only available till march 2010  , there should not be any interest at all to this area ..

What about Digital copies?
Digital copies most often have expiration dates also. Sometimes there is an extra disc, sometimes it's just a code and you have to download the movie. Should it be entered as an extra feature when there's an extra disc and not be entered if there isn't?
I can see that having that information in the profile could be useful for potential buyers, at least as long as the expiration date hasn't passed.

I think it's a difficult call but I'd go for including the information ánd adding the expiration date. (But that's just me.)

Yeah, that makes it a gray area for sure. And Mallrat threw another interesting wrench with the digital copies.

Because the slip cover iis a physical part of the release and does not go away in that sense, Alien. Th3e Online feature may be a part of the release but it is NOT a permamnent part of the release...it will only exist as long as the Distributor deems is....that could be a week, a month, a couple of years...but eventually it will disappear. If you bought the slip cover release today, you will still have it in five years unless YOU throw it away.

An interesting idea relative to digital copies, mallrat. The same, I suspect, will also apply to BD-Live.

It's very difficult to call but in the end, I think if we include BD-Live as well as Digital Copies into the features, then downloadable content should also be included.

I realize I'm going a bit against the general stream here, but strictly speaking, even though the BD-Live access portal and the digital copy are on the disc, the content itself is subjective to online input. Some Digital copies expire or need to be downloaded and if a company takes BD-Live offline, you'll get an error message when trying to connect to the BD-Live portal ... both would be a useless feature without the online component.

So, with that in mind, I'm inclined to say that downloadable content can be added, even though it might become unavailable at some point in the future.

I'm inclined to go with Mallrat on this one: include it AND mention the expiration date. And I would add: if there's no expiration date and at some point in time the content goes off-line, this fact could (and should) be added to the Invelos database by adding "offline per [date]" to the content's description.

That way the profile info would still be accurate.

I can also see both points, but Skip's post is very reasonable in my opinion, so I would not include it at all.
If you include it , do it in the "Other features" section.

cheers

Good point. Between this and the Digital Copy Mallrat pointed out, I'm now on the "keep it" side of the fence.

In agreement with Mallrat. Include with an expiration date.

Well, I've just added it to the features with an expiry date (plus some other minor corrections/updates) and submitted it. Thanks for everybody's input.
