Anchor Bay has released at least 4 different *standard DVD* versions of Evil Dead 2 in the States alone. I don't know if any other company has had the rights since AB acquired them.

Evil Dead 2, like Halloween and Army of Darkness, seem to be released by AB in a new edition every other year or so.

Accounting of DVD versions
Accounting of Blu-ray versions

The release in question hasn't been added yet, but there are plenty out there.

You're right I was looking for Evil Dead II.

However looking at those results for ED 2 did nothing to change my opinion, I don't see any UPC conflict so my guess is that somebody simply did not check the BD box.

Doesn't sound right to me either, but it is. I can confirm the UPC from the disc in my hand, and the back cover fro the Blu-ray clearly shows the same UPC.

I don't think we can safely assume the back cover of the Blu-ray online is legit.

The two Blu-ray editions, for Evil Dead II, that are in the main db have been confirmed by external sources as legit.  The UPC on the case, matches the UPC in the profile, which matches those sources I linked on the previous page.

That being said, we are all just shooting in the dark until we get the actual UPC in question and a scan of the DVD cover.

The UPC is 5-055201-804037 from Optimum Releasing and is for the UK release titled "Evil Dead II". I purchased a DVD-only release and know noting about the Blu-ray other than what is in the existing profile. Both versions were released on the same date with very similar covers. Both are in the database now (Blu under UPC, DVD under disc ID), so you can compare the covers.

The reason for this peculiarity? Production mistake, pre-release mock-up... who knows.

I did have a quick look at some on-line retailers for UPCs, but couldn't find any that showed them.

This is a sig... ... ... yay...

Don't understand? Maybe DVDProfilerWiki.org does!
