This should be interesting.

In "Terminator: Salvation" (note proper use of colon to indicate a subtitle), the above actress is credited on screen exactly as indicated in the subject line of this thread.

The DVDP program does not allow this in the on-line database as it automatically capitalizes the first letter of the last name, forcing the name to be "Jadagrace Berry".

I disagree as i was able to change K.D. Lang to all lower case in my profiler and updated back to my on line collection, as you can see..
Are you sure you can't change the capitalized letters to lower case????

You have to remember that your on-line collection is a copy of your local.  If it is all lowercase in your local, that is how it will display in your on-line collection.  If, however, you try to contribute that name, the program will automatically capitalize the first letter of each name for the uploaded profile.  Do a test contribution and you will see what I mean.

Once again, and per the rules, this is NOT what the 'credited as' field is for so it should not be used in this manner.  The 'credited as' field is to be used when the credited name differs from the credited name.  A change in capitalization does not make the name different.  It is the same name.

If we are going to follow the rules to the letter, the proper entry would be 'JADAGRACE/ /berry' as the entire credit is not in all caps.  The fact that the program changes it upon upload should not alter the way the name is entered.  In my local, it is 'Jadagrace/ /berry'.

You apply standardized capitalization to the first name but not to the last name.

That's totally inconsistent to me.

well , I just signed out and went back to the website- http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/widescreenforever

and k.d.lang was still there..
I went to reply back to this post and it said I have to sign in.., I then rechecked my url  and it still had lower case..,
I then went back to the posting here and signed back in,, and am replying back..
So could you see 'lowercase or upper case'  to my Roy Orbision's Black & White Night #478  ???

I am not talking about my on-line collection (or yours), I am talking about the online main database.

If you submit a contribution with the first letter of any part of the name as a lower case letter, the contribution software changes it to a capital letter and displays it as a capital letter in the contribution comparison screen.

So when I tried to contribute "JADAGRACE berry" (as credited", the system changed it to "JADAGRACE Berry" in the contribution.  It remained "JADAGRACE berry" in my local, and therefore, would have shown up in my online collection as "JADAGRACE berry" if I had uploaded it.

You must not have read my post as you seem to have missed the part where I said, following the rules to the letter, it would be 'JADAGRACE/ /berry'.  What I do in my local, which is where I have 'Jadagrace/ /berry', doesn't change anything.  If I choose to be inconsistent in my local, that is my choice.

When I contributed 'JADAGRACE/ /berry', the system changed it to 'JADAGRACE/ /Berry'.  The only thing the system did was capitalize the first letter of the last name.  It did not convert the first name into lowercase letters.  That is how it has been done on every test I have run for mixed case contributions...the system only cares about the first letter of each name, the rest can be in whatever case you want.  Why it would happen differently for you is beyond me.

This is indeed strange as I just added the Canadian locality for Terminator Salvation.., Changed Berry to berry in the casting. submitted it and the database said, as you said, there is no changes to your online contribution..

I hate it when movie stars change their names and the 'system' doesn't understand it..
Wonder how her in house mail and taxes handle this through other computers??

Clearly you are missing the point here.  We are not talking about your on-line collection, we are talking about the contribution process...that's why I said to try and contribute one of these profiles to see what the system does to the name.

I went to this DVD and changed the capitalization of this name. My local data was correct but when I hit the contribute button and looked at the screen there, invelos did change the data.

My, my, aren't we touchy.

I read your entire post.

I simply made an observation that, to me, what you are doing, in your local database, is inconsistent (which you seem to be admitting).  I made no statement as to whether you were permitted to make such a choice or not.
