I was looking forward to getting TS on DVD, but WB is basically releasing a bare bones DVD and the Blu-Ray is getting extras as well as a Directors Cut. So I probably won't be buying TS on DVD anytime soon.
At least other studios are still releasing feature ladden DVDs of new release. I'm glad that Paramount is still releasing 2-disc editions of new releases such as Transformers 2 and Star Trek(2009). It seems to be happening over here as well. I tend to buy the extended cuts; Angels & Demons and Terminator: Salvation appear to be DVD=theatrical only/ Blu-ray=extended. And Mlle. Mole #2 tells me that the Harry Potter series is coming out extended on Blu-ray only around Xmas (can anyone confirm this?). Considering the costs difference between a 2-Disc Special Edition DVD and the same title in BluRay is usually only a couple dollars it just made sense to go Blu. I for one am glad that studios are taking an interest in BluRay, it's causing them to go back to their classics and doing restorations and new restorations on films that were previously restored for DVD. As far as the trend of studios releasing only bare bones DVDs, I would suppect that is becuase of the DVD buyer market wanting cheaper DVDs and companies like NetFlix with a growing user base that want to only watch a movie and not special features. | | | Are you local?

| | Posted: | | | | I started to collect VHS (and BETA) Movies back Dec 1980 until June 1997 .... My collection of these hard case plastic cassettes total around 1000 or more pieces.. Which I have stored in boxes and never take them out or look at them except occasionally I'll discover that I have a tape that is not released to DVD., ( Elvis 1979 with Kurt Russell was my most recent find) .. Anyhoo, The wife says to me the other day What are we going to do with these 12 Large size boxes of Tapes? No one wants to buy them or have them., I thought maybe someone might want to use them as Blanks ( just put tape across the erase tab), But there is no finders ..  What would be a good way to dispose of these video tapes ? Sally Ann? / Bonfire?  Maybe there might be a renewed interest in VHS tapes just as Vinyl records lately has had a rejuvenate excitement over CD's ... ??  | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Like you I once had over a 1,000 pre-recorded VHS tapes. Once I switched to DVD I started selling them off on Ebay. Now I probably have less than 30 VHS tapes that I have kept for one reason or another along with a few laser discs that I never sold off.
Now I'm switching to BluRay but, the resale value of DVDs is pretty much worthless expect for a few rare titles that still bring in some $$$. What I have been doing with my DVDs that I replaced with BluRay is purchased replacement Double BluRay cases and putting both the DVD and BluRay in the same case. | | | Are you local?

When I was converting all my Mixed Martial Arts & Japanese Wrestling tapes a few years ago I ended up junking most of them. No one wanted them since everything was going to DVD. |

| | Posted: | | | | Charity is a good way to go...I've done that with mine that I've replaced over the years. Our local Goodwill always has a bunch is stock that still sell. I work retail and STILL get people mad at me because we don't sell VHS so I tell them to go there.
