tweeter is correct.  Let's use the examples given with some arbitrary numbers.

John Doe = 10
John Doe, Jr. = 5
John Doe Jr. = 125

Based on those numbers, John Doe Jr. is most common.  For the first, we would enter, John Doe Jr. [John Doe] which the program will convert to John Doe, Jr. [John Doe].

As I said before, since the program treats them as the same, so should we.

OK, but if the case is:
John Doe = 10
John Doe, Jr. = 5
John Doe Jr. = 6

Assuming that the result are all correct, you say that John Doe, Jr. is the common name?

That is how I would do it as 'Jr' is the most credited form.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I really like that kind of math.
The most credited form in the example of Kluge would be "John Doe" because it appears in all three variants and gets a total of 21 titles, while the two "Jr." variants only get 11.

But I'm leaving this windmill alone.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
