I still would like an example to understand what exactly happened.

Hard to tell what happened exactly, that caused this reaction.

Changing profiles in a different locality than I live, is something I do on (almost) a daily basis. Most of the discs I buy are imported from the UK (while I live in Holland). So are, I presume, a lot of other people's, since with the exchange rate of the pound, DVDs and especially Blurays are a lot cheaper than in my home country.

I don't change profiles of discs I don't own, so if that's your concern I understand you a little better. If however the proposed changes are valid, adding correct data or removing incorrect data that is, and are contributed by someone who does own the disc, I'm not sure I see the problem. (Sorry.)

Either way, shame to see you go Movieman/GreenMarine and hope to see you back in the future.
Thanks for all you've done so far.

Cheers,

Steve

I understand your grief movieman, but there is little to be gained by getting personally offended by any users.

Give it a few weeks, and let things calm down, and hopefully you'll be back somewhere down the road (I know I will be at some time  )...

Peace out and be free!

Hi Berak

I'am just sorry for all my hours, days, months even years off contributions to make the database so correct as possible, every time from the original disc (not like somebody) but the thanks I get you can read in this forum and some emails I get so it stops for me here but thanks for the support.

I felt the same way as you do now some months ago when I decided to throw in the towel. I felt discouraged that all the hours I'd put into the profiles I had updated got changed én masse by certain individuals not even owning the actual DVD. And when it became apparent that the changes being made contained numerous errors, and still got accepted it made me even madder. There was even a statement made by Ken that encouraged this behaviour.

However - after giving it some thought, and reading what other users felt on the subject, I decided it was a rather egotistical approach to just stop contributing. If you feel content with a profile you have audited or made from scratch, you shouldn't let it bother you that others make changes to them. It might be something you overlooked in your initial audit even. If you can verify that their changes is wrong, you of course vote no, but if you feel they just add unsupported data (which unfortantely now is encouraged by Invelos) you can always vote neutral.

My point is - don't let some users (in lack of a better word) Gestapo-tactics get to you. Ignore them and move on - we need all the contributors we can get, and in the end - hopefully - the result will be awesome.

Keep on rockin'...

Regarding the new locality of movieman1964

But really:
I'm sad to see you leave, your work is and will be appreciated.
It's just that everyone (except one) makes mistakes and if you can't accept that this one is possibly not you (as far as I know the current pope is german and not belgian) and take changes to your contributions too personal, it's probably better for you (and your health) to resign.

Hope that you'll reconsider this decision in times to come.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Are you the pope or something? No i'am not  just wants a little bit off respect

What do corrections of profiles have to do with respect?

I respect the work of every single contributor to this database, but still if I find errors (in the profiles I own) I try to correct them. There's no such thing as sacrosanct data and if anyone finds errors in my contributions, I would be glad to find them corrected.

As far as I understood it, an Italian (Kluge) tried to change the profile of a Belgian DVD.
Kluge stated that he owns this DVD and only corrected incorrect entries, movieman1964 claims that this is highly disrespectful (especially from a non-belgian). What he does not, is deny that the data was incorrect.

So, the way I see it, we have a case of accute infantilism.

Giga Wizard do you now how to remove all my contibutions (online) ?

I'm not Giga, but the answer to your question is: There's none, all you could do is withdraw your pending updates and, if you would be really ill-willing, to overwrite your contributions with junk data.
This at least would be a unique behaviour in the history of this database.

I'm very sorry about this situation, I've tryed to put right this think, because I have appeciated very much the movieman work, I apologize for everithing I coulkd have done, I'm an human being and sure I can do mistake.
At this moment I'm not at my home, and I will be out for a week, so I can't control the DVD, but if I've done some errors I'm glade to see a newer contribution from moviman.
I've replied his mail this afternoon, and, yes, I remember many details about the film credits because I've contributed the DVD just two or three days ago.
I ask myself why he don't check the dvd to verify my data?

Anyway, I'm really sorry about all this mess.
