I installed the exact same program on my brother's computer (he has a very similar computer make-up to mine) and the text was fine which indicates that it's definitely a problem with my computer. I might try doing a windows xp repair and see if that fixes anything.
Thanks for the suggestion.. I can't wait to get this working again!
