I am not advocating including or not including stuntmen/women etc.

But I do pose a question;

Are stuntmen that sometimes appear in the cast actually stunt doubles?? ie they play the part of a main actor in dangerous scenes.

This opposed to stuntmen who appear in crew credits, typically as part of the 2nd units?? ie they perform random stunts, and are not necessarily identified as an actors double

Just wondered if this is why they sometimes do appear within cast credits?

Sometimes they are labeled as Stunt Double for..., sometimes just as Stunts, why Hollywood does this on ocassion I haven't got a clue and fortunately it does not happen often...but happen it does.

So this has come up again for No Strings Attached. Was there ever a ruling on it?

Here's a screen shot of the credits:

Not for or against including them but I'm hoping Ken made a ruling on this either way.

He didn't.

I did: I don't include 'em.

Obviously, it would be good for it to be addressed. Yeah, I know I'm asking for a lot there...

But here's the question: if you came across it in a contribution being changed, how would you vote? This goes for others as well. Would you submit a contribution removing them or, as I would imagine, keep it local?

Whenever someone removes stunt crew from the cast section, I'll happily vote "yes", instantly. Whether I would do so myself is a different question. I should, because again: it's crew and as such they're not part of the cast - not even per the rules, if you ask me. But most of the time, I guess I just lock my data and don't bother with that particular online cast list ever again.

I must say this is very confusing.
I thought it was never allowed to include stunt people in either cast or crew, but now it seems it is allowed sometimes?

Like similar issues, this is one of those areas that could easily be clarified by invelos. But, I find that the communities questions seldom find official answers.

So, here is how I deal with the question of whether Stunt people of other "Crew" members should be included as Cast.

If these people are listed at the end of the Cast credits I do not include them.

But, if they are listed within the Cast credits (with other undisputed Cast listed after them) then I include them. I also document my rationale for their inclusion.

Please note that I am not discussing Puppeteers in this topic since Ken has specifically addressed their inclusion in the rules.

I can not recall a single instance in which, in following these guidelines, I've had a contribution declined.

Which is they way i understand it should be dealt with, however, this of course leads to stunt people being credited based on location instead of function, which is never good i think.

So a simple yes or no from Invelos would go a long way, now personally i don't care if we add them or not, it's just that i think we either always add them, or never.

In the instance above Stunts are included in the Cast data. In the instance you cited they would not be.

My opinion on this has actually changed over the years.  The rules use the word 'actor' quite a bit so, unless the Stunt Coordinators, Stunt People/Doubles and Choreographers actually played a specific role, I leave them out.

Needless to say, I voted 'yes' on this particular change.
