I've never had any problems scanning with the lid open either. Either I close it as much as possible, or I just have it completely open. Maybe I add a weight to press the box down on the glass. You should never scan a cover with the lid open if at all possible. That leads to color shifts and incorrect black levels. If the item I'm scanning is too large to close the lid, I'll remove the lid and cover the scanner with a heavy-duty black cloth so that external light that will affect the scan can't enter. | | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

I guess that really doesn't matter, as long as the end result is okay. I always edit the scanned result, as it tend to be off no matter what I do. I usually have to reduce gamma, even with the lid down. What kind program do you use to edit the scanned result? Is it pre-installed on most computers? |

| | Posted: | | | | I only use the scanning software. I usually reduce gamma, and increase contrast. A few times I also had to change color tones, but that didn't have anything to do with the lid being open or closed.

After I started to deal with this problem again tonight, I realized that the scan I wanted to do is banding because...there's banding on the rear cover. It's not me...it's the cover. Problems with ambient light leaking on the scanner surface:
A new incandescent lamp is 3200 degrees kelvin and I measured the new energy saver lamps the same.
And a florescent light is almost impossible to correct for in normal photography.
I measured the my scanner light at about 5800 degrees kelvin, normal daylight.
A winter northern light can be as much as 10,000 degrees kelvin and tropic southern exposure 2600 degrees kelvin. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

But before he admitted this, he sent me 2 more printers for me to see if they worked better, but of course no luck. Finally to solve this case, they sent me a top model. This one did also not perform well on ethernet, but I was tired of the problems, so I use it on USB instead. Great scanner/printer, and I got it for free. The others I gave away. Can't believe they let me keep all of them  |

Grrr! I've tinkered around with the scanner with my local DVDProfiler adding some cover scans that's not in the online database as of yet and the result doesn't look too bad, as far as I'm concerned. No more better or worse than the other cover scans that are currently on display. |
