I'd suggest looking thru 'msconfig'  (off the run key)  and checking all areas in the General ( startup) / system.ini / win.ini / boot.ini /  services / start up .. check these areas against another XP windows machine and look for discrepancies .
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Giga Wizard,

Success!  What I ultimately did was first backup the database, then I uninstalled the program (I had the released version), manually removed all traces of the program from the registry, and then did a Windows Explorer search of the HD and removed anything that referenced DVD Profiler (there were still folders, etc. hanging around.  I then reinstalled the program and everything now works.  Thanks to you and everyone who took the time to read my post and offer their help.
