Michael,

Just to confirm what you are saying - all topbaer.de needs to do is to take one of his existing profiles, change it to manual (by editing the UPC and then to -re-add the same original profile again.

He then ends up with the same profile twice.

No problem

Hi,

If we've successfully helped Topbaer find a solution I think we can safely say that All's Well That Ends Well.

In the parenthetical expression of my first post I stated that the goal was to change the profile in such a way as to allow the addition of the same profile again and only use my suggestion as a guideline.  Giving the example of changing the UPC to all zeroes was not suddenly saying something totally different.

Changing the Disc ID wasn't my idea.  I had the problem of entering the same profile twice just a short time ago and received considerable guidance on how to do it from the members of this forum.  I also received assistance on how to create a profile to simply serve as a container to accommodate several DVDs  I'm just trying to pay back.

Yeah, this solution will work to add the second HD DVD Profile,
but then i have to profiles, one stand alone with wrong EAN, and a second with correct EAN in the Box Set,
but i will not able to update both profiles from the Web server when some one changes something.
and when i change something by my self, i have to change it twice, but have to be carefull which i change and contribute.

Can Ken say something to this Problem? I`m really the first one, that runs in this Problem?
hopefully DVD Profiler will solve this Problem soon.

regards
michael

I must be missing something, but how is this Ken's problem? How does you're not having the proper equipment, i.e., an HD-DVD drive, to ID your HD-DVD discs in Profiler equate to a problem with DVD Profiler?

No, you're not the 1st one. Many of us who have double dips have had to fudge something to get the 2nd (or sometimes) 3rd profile in our database. There was a conversation about it a while ago and one of the theories as to why it was set up like this is to prevent retail outlets from using a $30.00 to control their inventory.  Not sure if that is the reason or not but it makes sense (to me anyway  )

Since Ken is the Owner and Programmer of this Software, he decides what will be included in the next release. And this seems to be a problem or feature for some "exprienced" Users.
So a official statement would be nice.
Even that this is not the first time that this problem seems to be disscussed..

The solution would be to sell 2 of the discs so that way you only have one of each film in your collection.

Hi,
as i already posted, this is not that, what i want to do.
and it is not a solution, it`s a fix.
a solution would be, that the Programm support more then one DVD with the same EAN, within Box-Sets.

But Ken, the Owner still has not replied to this treath.

I don't know, but would not the same Distrbution of these HD DVD being sold in Austria or Switzerland? You could then change the location to one of those locations and upload these HD DVD.
So this would mean you can have 2(3) same EAN in you're collection and have those online and updated by the online DB, this also means if you make changes to the German profile, you have to make the changes to the other profile, however don't make changes to the data for that locality, overview (Switzerland or Austria Dialects, if that is the case), covers, rating, srp, ...
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

I would like the same thing for Disc id:s. I have overlapping box sets without individual packaging for discs.

I just had a similar problem where I could not create a child profile for a TV-series, using the Disc ID. The system referred to the box set being there already (with a normal UPC).

(Due to my mistake this even resulted in overwriting of the work I just did, adding cast and crew).

I could circumvent this by first creating a manual profile, and then changing to the disc ID. I don't remember this ever having been a problem before.
