How would Wizard of Oz be tagged ???

This is one of the reasons I think it should be a 4 choice field...

- B&W
- Color
- Colorized
- Mixed (both B&W and Color in the same movie... like Wizard of Oz)

Alternatively it could be checkboxes - and hence what the mix is (if it is for example B&W+Colorized or B&W+Color). Just throwing it out there, I am not really hooked on doing it one way or the other.

Either way would definitely work for me

I personally don't think that fits in with this list... but I wouldn't mind if it was made into it's own field... at the same time I personally wouldn't care all that much if it wasn't added at all either.

I don't think at present there are enough 3-D films to make it worthwhile for the Programmer.  There is something less than 25 totals in the entire library that are 3-D. The trigger for 3-D would if and when George ever completes Star Wars 3-D.

Let me start by saying, do not get me wrong I really like this idea.  My question is this though, Lets say I own a movie which is color, but it has flashbacks which are black and white.  We always try to be perfect around here so is it color or is it color/b&w?

In my view... that would be mixed color and B&W... if a movie has both... then it is both.

I have to disagree. If a film is primarily shot in color then it's color. Just because it has snipetts of black & white for flashbacks or dream states does not IMO make it a B&W film which is what the B&W check box or whatever would signify.

There will probably always be titles that people will argue about. Take Schindler's List for example. B&W or mixed?

That said, I like the idea, and the fact that it may be hard to produce a definition that will work on 100% of the titles shouldn't invalidate the suggestion. It's not like we haven't been there before...

Whats the difference between snippets throughout the movie and a scene at the beginning and a scene at the end... like in Wizard of Oz?

The way I see it... if there is both black and white filmed as well as color then it deserves to be mentioned if no other reason then accuracy for the field if we get it.

This is one of the reasons I think it should be a 4 choice field...

- B&W
- Color
- Colorized
- Mixed (both B&W and Color in the same movie... like Wizard of Oz)

I will added some ones more:
- Black and white Painted with a hand. Like red flags in Potemkin.
- Black and white with tinted. Many Silent film has blue tinted for night scenes, red for desert scenes...
- Black and white with selec color (Rumble Fish). Mixed is not exactly these.

In other I will put a "original color is use in edition". These is valid for colorized, and valid for originali tinted films that actually original tinted is not conserv, only a black and white outless color.

In color, I will like type of color: Bricomia (Black Pirate of twentys of Fairbanks), Original Technicolor with color separating in 3 black and white films, Afgacolor (Using for first time in Munchausen of 43 in Germany), black and white decoloring a color film (The man who wasn't there)...

Now we are going way overboard. Those I would say use tags.

We can't capture and catalog EVERY little piece of trivia, especially if it applies to, relatively speaking, a mere handful of films.

@FHarlock
I think that's going into a bit too much detail for general use.
I think B &W, Colour and Mixed are enough. Maybe a "more info" textbox could be added where all the other details could be added if wanted.

Yeah... I believe that is going a little too far also. But I do still think there should be 4 choices... not 3.

I think we need as you said... B&W, Color & Mixed... but I also still think we need Colorized. That way when checking profiles we can know from a glance if something originally aired in B&W... so those of us that care know to look for a B&W version of the movie.

Such titles as the first couple seasons of Bewitched comes to mind where both B&W and Colorized versions came out. But instead of calling it colorized... they just put on the package "In Color"... if someone didn't know better they could easily think it was from the time when color originally came out and not know there is a correct B&W version to look for.

It's a posibility. In little ocasions will be added other details, but we will be prepare for have them.

I have one rule, when you are creating a new system, you must think in the worts posible situation. Sonetime, it came. If you creating thinking in it, you create something prepare for normal situations, and capable to do extrange situations. When the extrange situation comes, you must not create a path to solve them.

For me, is indiferent how is the request solve, for me, the important is solve deffinitivily and good solve the quiestion and no with constant actualitation.

That I was saying, think in the worst posibility, you will be prepared fopr all.

And you are lucky, in other sites only was edited colorized versión.
