Either I'm doing something wrong or... I'm getting the exact same error but not txt file has been created. Here is what I'm doing...
I have the setup.exe file in the root of drive p so I type, p:\setup /log=p:\dvdp.txt
I get the exact same error and no text file.
George -bub Is your windows partition writable? Is your My Documents in the windows partition (or somewhere else)? Have you tried copying the setup file to the c drive and then running it there? | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | I was able to download and install 3.1 to my laptop running WinXPPro. Not sure what is going on with desktop problem but I can install anything I want, with the exception of DVDP 3.1.
Weird... My desktop is dual boot with WinVista, will try to install there. Since I use my desktop and WinXP 95% of the time vs. Vista or laptop, I don't think I would be willing to buy this program if I can't get it installed on my desktop and WinXP.
Thanks all for the help, I do appreciate your efforts. Something weird is going on here, just can't put my finger on it but the assistance is appreciated.

George That is likely to be your problem. I had a similar problem on a work notebook because we use folder redirection. When you irun setup you will be asked to select a destination location for the installation. Do not accept the default. Choose something like c:\DVDProfiler as the destination and I am confident that your problem will be solved. |

The problem is I can NOT run the setup routine, I immediately get the error mentioned above. I can NOT chose a different destination as the setup routine will not run at all. My best suggestion is to do a clean boot and try the install - some other program may be interfering with the setup's execution.
To do a clean boot, run "MSCONFIG" from Start->Run, and select the Diagnostic Startup. Reboot and try the setup. If that works, you can try selectively disabling startup items to identify the culprit. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | I am running as administrator, I am not willing to format and start over just to get this one program to install, the file size after download is 8581 KB.
I don't think there is any problem with the download as I am able to use the file to install on both my laptop and Vista installation. The only issue I have with my XP installation is that after I created a dual boot system so I could try out Vista, XP no longer will boot into safe mode. I get a Win Stop error right away.
But, I am able to install other software no problem. The DVDP 3.1 is the only software I'm having problem with. I was able to reinstall 2.4 by the way.
I want to thank everybody once again for the help, I do appreciate it. Maybe we will stumble on a solution. I will say this, Invelos tech support hasn't made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I do appreciate their efforts but one of my pet peeves is support people trying to help with issues when they obviously haven't even read the problem thoroughly, that can be frustrating. To wait for help only to get a response that doesn't even remotely address the issue you are having is very frustrating.
It isn't life of death but would be nice to upgrade.

| Posted: | | | | The file size matches, 8581kb for the zip file (8611 kb for the extracted setup.exe if you want to check just in case), so it's not like you keep getting a corrupted file or anything like that. I'm wondering whether anyone has a slightly older version of Profiler they could send to you to see if it's only the most current build that's causing the problem. I'm at work now, so can't check to see if I have any. |
