I am against such action, but I more opposed to the disgusting remarks that some users, including Kathy with many stars, are permitted to engage in. to Invelos | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! It was very simple, you like undocumented data, I don't and I never will. Maybe instead of using the language that you like to use amd the insulting comments you should FIRST learn what is being dealt with, insrtead of creating a topic which did not even relate to the notes which were used or the reason for the what I hoped would be a temporary correction. But that is probably asking far too much of you Your own failure to know how to use a simple basic tool, which was also available to the prior Contributor, demonstrates that all too graphically. Had you stopped at voting 'no', there wouldn't have been a problem. The problem was that you were changing correct data, to incorrect data, simply because you didn't like the notes. Please show me the rule that allows you to do that. As I said before, I have read the rules more times than I can count and have yet to find it. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | It's called supplying the verification method. A guess such as made by the user does not represent the verification. Now as to why I didn't stop at simply voting No, I didn't bring it to the Forums now did I.. Nor did I respond right away to the OP, only after he tried to screen caps of two different images and then demonstrated that he had no clue about using a basic too did I feel it was proper to respond. But even then while was shocked at the ummmm. and it was the OP who started with the insulting remarks (mild initially but insulting nonetheless), not I. So....sorry pal | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | My friend, then you simply haven't read the Rules. The Rules ask for a verification method and in my book that means HARD DATA not someone's "it is because I say so". You are simply trying to turn this a discussion that others, who are clueless, have already embarked upon, instead of what it was about. And no, I am not going to explain it again. I will simply say that tools are available that will provide data instead of opinion and that is ALL that I ask for. I am not interested in someone's belief on tech issues which tools will provide hard answers to. I have seen too many people over the years fail to comprehend Anamorphic vs. Non=Anamorphic, Dpolby 2.0 Surround from Dolby Stereo or even worse Dolby 2.0 Mono, and as a result because of this lack of comprehension we have a lot of bad data in the system. Just give me FACTUAL data, not opinion-based data. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Why didn't you POM the prior Contributor and request better notes and documentation. Why is it any of your concern what he did or didn't do with the previous contribution? As you said to Kathy, you are not on the Invelos payroll, so it really isn't up to you to decide what he should and shouldn't have done. That doesn't even cover the question as to how you know whether or not he even voted on that contribution, much less how he voted. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Quoting Winston Smith: Quote: My friend, then you simply haven't read the Rules. As I said, I have read them more times than I can count...just re-read them as a matter of fact. Quote: The Rules ask for a verification method and in my book that means HARD DATA not someone's "it is because I say so". I mentioned both of these points earlier in this thread. The original contributor followed the rules. He stated that he put the DVD into his player and noted that it wasn't anamorphic. That, no matter how you slice it, is a verification method. It may not be the verification method you want, but the rules don't require that he do it the way you want it done. If you don't like the verification method, which it is clear that you don't, you are allowed to vote 'no'. What you aren't allowed to do, unless I have missed the rule, is submit a change based on that fact alone. Since that is what you did, and you seem to think it is allowed by the rules, please show me that rule. Quote: You are simply trying to turn this a discussion that others, who are clueless, have already embarked upon, instead of what it was about. And no, I am not going to explain it again. I am not trying to turn this discussion into anything. You made a contribution that replaced correct data, with incorrect data. What I am trying to ascertain, is what rule allows you to do that, because I can't find it. Quote: I will simply say that tools are available that will provide data instead of opinion and that is ALL that I ask for. While I understand what you want, the rules require none of that. The rules simply ask that we "include your verification method." They don't tell us to use specific tools. They don't tell us to use the tools that Skip wants...or the tools that hal wants...or the tools that Ace wants...or the tools that Martian wants. They simply tell us to "include your verification method" so that other users, and Invelos, can decide whether or not to accept the contribution. As I said, if you don't like the verification method, your only option is to vote 'no'. If other users, and Invelos, don't agree, that's the end of it. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Why didn't you POM the prior Contributor and request better notes and documentation. Why would I do that? The prior Contributor submitted a valid change, something that had already been accepted as correct prior. It was you who changed it to something incorrect and you lied in your notes as having checked it, as well. I find it fascinating that you refuse to accept correct data due to (what you feel) are inadequate notes, so to fix the problem you make up something and lie on a submission to put bad data in the database. Then, in an effort to deflect the attention from your malicious attempt to put bad data in the database, you continue to post things that are completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. For instance, you keep trying to get at me that I didn't know how to use a tool in PowerDVD. That won't work, chief, because I'm man enough to admit that I was unaware of it. I don't hide behind silly excuses like a child would. In addition, Grendell has pointed out that even that particular tool isn't always 100%. But instead of crying about it, I'm grateful he pointed it out. But keep denying how completely wrong you are here, Skip. That's fine. But please also keep your promise (for the 100th time) that you won't ever submit again. This is obviously not the first time you have lied in your notes to put bad data in the database, so it's better off without your help. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | This is quite some marathon. Is there really anything new to add that isn’t just rehashing what’s already been said or is just point scoring? I can’t see that it’s going to go anywhere new now. Maybe go and watch a DVD for a change or feel sorry for all those poor people in Japan who really do have a problem to deal with? Yes, having a database that’s as accurate as it can be made is important here and I can understand why some people are getting so frustrated by various things, but is it really worth so much angst? Is what any one individual can do to it going to have that big an impact? It will never be 100% accurate (the Rules are too complicated and woolly for that); there will always be mistakes made, IMDB will always be mined for information and peoples' personal views will always effect what they contribute. I don't like seeing people doing things that add bad data on purpose to prove a point, say one thing and do another, or make up stuff; (but it's in our nature to be like this from time to time). However, I don't like seeing someone being ganged up on either, however maddening that individual is. You know, it really doesn’t look very good from the outside. Anyway, I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’ve decided to make my ambition in life to contribute a lot of complicated details to a profile and get a Yes vote from Skip! Paul | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |
