If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Haha, same here. At a family gathering I told that once when I was cutting some cheese onto my dinner, one of my cats started licking at the cheese while i wasn't watching. Naturally I just (in a calm matter) moved her a little bit, and kept cutting the cheese (I did not remove the "licked parts").

As always, my dad started talking about how I would get all kind of diseases, and I responded "it doesn't matter. After all she's (the cat) family". He did not find it amusing. To this day, I still let the cats lick my plate clean if I've eaten something they can handle.

I remember eating in bed and I had eight (out of nine) cats on the bed in various poses of relaxation - eyes closed or looking like they were asleep - totally ignoring me and none of them was facing in my direction.

Yet every one of them had one ear aimed at me.

In my house, our cat knows who's boss. She treats me like I'm the head cat. Never faces me (it's a challenge), always stays just out of reach (so I have to work to punish/pet her), keeps that ear cocked in case I reprimand/call her. My wife is like her sibling: they wrestle (if I wrestle, she gives up immediately), cuddle, and groom each other. Our college-age daughter is protected, like a cat pack's kitten.

There are many books about cat behavior... I like Catwatching by Desmond Morris and All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome by Kathy Hoopman (especially the Morris book).

If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

In my house, our cats and my dog know as well who is the boss. Not me, but my wife!

and me. Half the time my cat sleeps right in my computer chair and leaves very little room for me to sit. Needless to say, my rear end often hurts.
