I am curious to know if, now that I have all of these images loaded, is it possible to un-loaded them again (back to no cast or crew images showing at all) without going through and removing them manually one by one?

Create a backup with everything but the cast & crew checked.  Then in a new database to test it out, restore it.  If you like it, you should delete your main database and recreate it and then restore the file.

I'm not sure (at work, can't test), but you may have to perform a database rebuild with deleting unassigned cast/crew and uncheck the box to preserve cast/crew with headshots prior to the restore.

Note that in 3.1, you should close DVDP between switching databases due to a bug.

It did work, thanks

I had a backup created prior to including the HMD, but I had just assumed that, if I restored that database that it would remove all images added by HMD automatically to make it looks just like it had at the time of that backup being made.

I hadn't considered that it would keep the images from the HMD anyway.

I'm tempted to give this a try but have a question first.  Because this is done as a db restore, is it correct that if I have a headshot of an actor that is not included in the zip files & update files when I do the restore that I will lose the headshots that are unique to my collection?  (I guess I'm asking if the headshot restore will wipe out my existing file.)  I've taken quite a bit of time and acquired headshots of actors that my guess is willl not be in the zip & update files & I don't want to lose them!

By default, you will be prompted if you want to replace any existing headshot with one that is in the database being restored.  But make a backup of your database first just in case you select the wrong option since it seems like this is your first restore.

And if I have a headshot that the db being restored doesn't any headshot available for that actor, I'll keep my headshot or will it be wiped out with a blank?

In my experience it'll be kept.

when you restore the new headshots you will have the option of always keeping the one you have, always replacing it with the new version or always asking which you want to keep.

Since you are restoring individual photos it can't delete any photos and replace these with blank.

Thanks for the Headshot DB Files,
i tried it, but removed it hours later again:
a) DB increased from 88 MB to 390 MB .
b) not all pictures included (i know that`s  nearly impossible, but newer movies would be nice) Some Birthdays not there
c) (Poor) Performance of DVDProfiler decreased again
d) DVDProfiler used more RAM again

all that for just a few Pictures? Not worth really.
Delete the old DB; created a new one and then restored the DB Backup taken before including Headshots. Because every other way to remove the Headshots didn`t work...

If you like the Headshot Feature, happy for you; just nothing for me,...

regards
michael

a) Well, yes, you have it expect it to increase the database size.  The pictures have to be stored.
b) Like the dvd profiles, it's user built.

You could remove the headshots of any cast members not in use by performing a database repair and unchecking the default-checked setting for keeping unused cast members with a headshot.  Con: If you add a new profile to your collection, a cast member in that profile that had a headshot previously won't have a headshot.

These problems are caused by low hardware specs, not by the headshots.

My database is about 750MB (about 430MB of this are headshots), but startup-time is about 5-6 seconds and RAM-use is about 150MB. Considered that I have 3 custom html-windows and a lot of HQ gallery pictures (another 450MB and growing) is it a joke.

Nice work, thanks! It's taking me an age to go through updating them all but it's worth it

Snarbo ( ) reported me by PM two errors on my database :

Kenny Baker 1912 (A Day at the Races) has Kenny Baker 1932 (Star Wars r2d2) picture
Steve Harris 1956 (Iron Maiden fame) has Steve Harris 1965 (Minority Report actor) picture

This is corrected in my database, and will be included in my january update.

As you will all have noticed, there was no November update. I was busy processing a Headshot database provided by T!M. Unfortunately, it wasn't created using the procedure in this topic, so it was a full database. I had to run DVDP on 2 PC's, manually comparing thousands of headshots. And that's what I've been doing the past 2 months  .

The result is a December update with 315 crew members and 2934 actors. You can download it here.

And to all of you, and your families, a merry christmas and a happy new year.

And a big thank you to T!M for providing the images!!!!
