| Posted: | | | | I've been reading threads here and my understanding of child profiles under the new system is fuzzy at best.
I've just received the new Thunder Road Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, and I'd like to do a submission.
The case is a standard HD case without slip cover / case.
So do I create a box set with two profiles (one for each disc), or a single profile with an extra (DVD) disc, two discs total, or ...
And what link describes (different subject) how an alternate id is created / assigned?
Sorry. Very confused. |

Turns out that the DVD included in this Blu-ray + DVD combo is unique from previous DVD versions, I think. So I could create a separate profile for it, and then submit it separately, or as a set contents? It's confusing because I can't see how what I have is different than the combo I just bought for "Burlesque", with In the parent profile .... 0ED7200A84DECD44 [BURLESQUE] 5927C31F14CCB161 [BURLESQUE] And then ... 8B83003810B3D50E [BURLESQUE] In the child profile, and of course there are only two discs total in the case. What up? |

| Posted: | | | | In the parent: Blu-ray disc-id DVD disc-id.
Per the rules this is all that is required.
Optionally a child of DVD disc-id.
The rules do not require that the DVD have a separate profile. If you wish, you may create and submit one (disc-id profile) and attach it to the main Blu-ray profile as a child.
The pertinent section of the rules follow
Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile. | | | Registered: February 10, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | As for Burlesque, when I acquired this title in Nov. 2012, the profile looked like this:
In the parent profile.... 0ED7200A84DECD44 [BURLESQUE] 8B83003810B3D50E [BURLESQUE]
With a child... 8B83003810B3D50E [BURLESQUE]
Wigram contributed. Posted: December 8, 2012 7:59 AM Added Alternate DiscIDs
which is why the profile now shows
In the parent profile .... 0ED7200A84DECD44 [BURLESQUE] 5927C31F14CCB161 [BURLESQUE] | | | Registered: February 10, 2002 |

Is this what the "Check accepted profiles for new box set contents" is all about? Why would I want a profile based on a disc ID that I don't have? |

| Posted: | | | | Where can I find the best way to determine how my on-line profiles are "counted" vs how local discs in my profiler are "counted" vs "count as"?
For the Burlesque DiscID: 8B83003810B3D50E [BURLESQUE]
There's nothing under "features"
But for the parent profile, which indicates for both media type of DVD and BD, there are lots of features. How do you know which features are unique to the DVD vs BD? Wouldn't this be the purpose of having separate profiles?
If I deleted DiscID: 8B83003810B3D50E [BURLESQUE], perhaps because I have 5927C31F14CCB161 [BURLESQUE] instead, then I loose the count of "1" for the second disc, and to get that back I'd either have to increment the main profile by that number or create a supplementary DVD profile for the disc I actually have.
Yikes. |

This doesn't help make things clearer: "Disc IDs Do not include any Disc IDs on the main profile - these are listed on each of the individual profiles." Plus, if you don't have the child profile, how do you distinguish features between discs? And how does having the parent w/BD+DVD change the counting of things compared to having a separate / additional profile for the DVD? |

I believe, and this might have changed, that the online counts the number of profiles in your collection. As far as I know, the 'count as' only affects your local number. Unless you, or somebody else, adds the features specific to the DVD to the DVD profile, there is no way to tell, by looking at the profile, which features are on the DVD. The main Blu-ray profile should show all the features in the set regardless of which disc they are on. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. What I have read, some people want the alternate version so that the cover they have locally matches the online. I've got things set for now but it wasn't easy. I verified which DVD I had via "inserted disc", added that, deleted the profile I didn't have, removed the original DVD profile from the main profile, added the box set for the "inserted disc", changed the UPC for that profile to the DiscID of the inserted disc, and changed the cover art for the child profile to match the BD+DVD combo. Then locked everything. Now I actually know which features, etc., the DVD has as opposed to the Blu-ray. |

And if you glom everything onto the front profile, how can you tell the difference in audio tracks and subtitles, etc., for the two discs? It's obvious that the DVD won't have DTS-HD or any loss-less stuff, but it just seems like a very messy way of doing things to me. |
