This is a new PC, my previous having gotten fried in a t-storm, so I am busy re-installing all my apps.
I am stuck on installing DVDpro.

I download the latest version, 3.8.1.
Go thru the install procedure.
Restore data from saved backup.
On exit, DVDpro throws a catastrophic error, with error report sent to Invelos.
Then enter continuous errors, breaking out only by ending from Task Manager.

Subsequent use of the DVDpro icon placed on desktop wants to go thru the
installation again, from the "Welcome to DVD Profiler".

It appears that the failure prevented setting whatever it is that says that the
install was successful.

OK, no error that time, but desktop icon still wants to go thru install motions every time.

Already tried that: no joy.
Also: same direct from the Program Files

Same, but let me try uninstall/install next.
Result: Catastrophic failure on exit program after clean install. Had to kill from Task Manager.
Invoking program now (again) wants to re-do post-install setup.

Now this is getting weird.

Would you please provide a list of the installed software and a list of the Autostart group.

TeaTimer is the realtime registry protector of Spybot.
It's quite a useful tool, but may prohibit the installation of legit programs too.

It's been quite a while since I used it, let's see if I still recall correctly where to find it:

1) Enable the "Advanced Mode" of Spybot
2) In the left panel of Spybot you find a button named "Tools", click on it.
3) In the left panel you now should see (among others) a button named "Resident", click on it.
4) In the main panel you now should be able to see the status of "SD-Helper" and "TeaTimer" (flagged/unflagged = enabled/disabled). Right below this is a small log-window which shows you the last actions taken by these modules. Check for entries that are DVDProfiler related (if unsure check for timestamp)

The easiest way to find out if TeaTimer is the culprit would be to temporarily disable it and give the installation of DVDProfiler a retry.
