I just reformatted/reinstalled everything on my computer (XP Home, SP3, IE8, all updates), I reinstalled DVD Profiler, activated it with my Registration Key, restored from a previously saved database update, got everything back the way it was before, but now, about every other time I open DVD Profiler, once the splash screen finishes I'll get a 3/4 page-sized flash of white, then DVD Profiler only opens 3/4 size (same size as the flash of white just moments before).  I stretch out the sides like I would any open window, click File & Exit so it will save my preferences (worked fine before I formatted/reinstalled), but inevitably next time I open it, I'll get the flash of white after the splash screen loads and DVD Profiler will only open 3/4 size.  I tried a database repair, but it changed nothing.  I've expanded the sides to full screen a number of times, always selecting File, Exit, no change in behaviour.  I've even saved my layout (once I got it set up the way I want it) and it STILL opens up 3/4 screen after a reboot (if I stretch out the sides and click File, Exit, it may open full screen the next time or 2 that I open it.  But if I go do something else for a bit or reboot my computer, I'll inevitably get the 3/4 screen-sized flash of white after the splash screen finishes loading, then DVD Profiler will open 3/4 screen again).

Screenshot:

I work on computers for a living but this has me stumped.  The computer itself is running better than it has for awhile, this is the only problem I'm having.  Anyone have a solution to this bit of weirdness?

Thanks,      -kd5-

I tried to resize my screenshot but every time I try to highlight/replace the existing image code in my post, because it's further down than the bottom of the dialog box, my highlighting inevitably jumps back up into the previous paragraph of text.  Don't know why this forum is wonky like that...        -kd5-

It's not the forums...it's your browser . That used to happen with me all the time on my work computer...very frustrating...until they upgraded to IE 9 and it went away. I never had the problem at home as I use Firefox. What Browser version are you using?

Also, regarding your window size problem. I'm having the same problem with my Internet Explorer window at work. Every time I open IE, it opens with 3/4 of a window. I'll maximize it and for a few times it will reopen maximized but then the next day it's back to 3/4. I still haven't figured it out .

I'm using IE8, but that's actually the least of my worries right now, although it is a pain if I want to edit a lengthy post.

I don't for the life of me understand why DVD Profiler keeps opening up 3/4 screen and it's bugging the crap out of me.      -kd5-

Try this:

Right click on the shortcut or icon you use launch DVD Profiler and choose Properties. Select the Shortcut tab and there should be a "Run:" setting. From the droplist choose Maximized.

Or with the program maximized, control click the X in the upper right corner when you close it.

Thanks Bad Father.  While DVD Profiler now opens full screen, I still get the white flash once the splash screen loads, but just prior to DVD Profiler opening, only now the white flash is full screen too.  I can't help but think there's something going on here, it didn't do anything like that before I wiped & reinstalled everything on my computer.

If I uninstall and reinstall DVD Profiler, will it leave the folders that are in My Documents alone?  Or will it remove those during the uninstall process?

I really don't want to have to do that unless it's absolutely necessary, I'm hoping someone has a quick fix to resolve this/these issue/issues.

Thanks,      -kd5-

That flash you're experiencing sounds like a change in video resolution. Maybe it's a problem with your graphics settings or something?

Same settings I had before (1280 x 1024, 60hz), same monitor, same video card, same drivers, and DVD Profiler is the only application this does it with.

I've a feeling I'll probably end up uninstalling & reinstalling DVD Profiler (after I update my backup), does anyone know if the uninstall will remove the DVD Profiler folders that the install created in My Documents?      -kd5-

Uninstalled, cleaned up the folder left behind, reinstalled, it seems to want to behave so far, at least with 5 or 6 openings.  We'll have to wait & see, hope it's OK now.

Wonder what caused it to go wonky?      -kd5-

Opened up just fine this morning.  No flash of white, no 3/4 page-sized DVD Profiler.  Must've just been a bad install.      -kd5-

Realized a couple of days ago that I hadn't yet reinstalled the Database Query plugin so I installed that, yesterday my DVD Profiler opened 3/4-sized again (more like 2/3-sized this time).  Decided to uninstall the Database Query plugin after it opened again at 2/3 the size of my display this morning and so far it hasn't tried to open 2/3-sized yet (after 2 reboots and 3 DVD Profiler openings, it seems to be back to normal).  I don't know if the Database Query plugin was the culprit, it will probably take several more reboots/reopenings before I'm certain, I wish it wouldn't do that because I like the features the Database Query offers.  But I can't have it negatively affecting my DVD Profiler.

I remember that before I reformatted/reinstalled everything on my computer, DVD Profiler had done that a couple 2 or 3 times before, but I didn't think anything of it, it was an annoyance when it happened but I figured it was acceptable behaviour for the benefits I was receiving with DVD Profiler.  With it doing that repeatedly this time, I decided that I can't have that.

I'll continue to monitor this and report any further abnormalities.      -kd5-

I thought of another possibility. if you use a screensaver that uses a different screen resolution than the default resolution you have Windows set to and you have DVDP launched when the screensaver kicks in, it will resize your launched apps to the new resolution. The trick is to make sure the screensaver is using the same resolution as Windows.
