| Posted: | | | | Would it be okay to submit an uncredited role for the ballet dancer who doubled for Natalie Portman in Black Swan?
She is credited - but strangely only as a 'Stunt Double'. I know we should currently ignore any credited 'stunt' roles, but this one is more of a 'performance double'.
From a recent newspaper article - "Acclaimed soloist Sarah Lane danced the more complicated dance sequences, but, controversially, she's credited as a stunt double."
So could I enter it as, say, 'performance double' (and uncredited)?

| Posted: | | | | Is she part of the cast section?
If not, then I'd say no. Local only on this credit. |

| Posted: | | | | If you can identify her, you can add here as uncredited: Quote: This contribution contains uncredited cast entries. Please submit uncredited cast only if: You have personally identified the cast by viewing the film -OR- The cast is copied from a previously accepted profile with documented uncredited cast Be sure to specify the source in your contribution notes |

You can do with that information whatever you desire, locally, but if she is credited as a Stunt Double it can't be wedged into the credits via other means. It has no place in the on line database. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | I tend to agree with tweeter. Regardless of what they did, do we really want to start entering 'stunt doubles' as uncredited cast? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Playing devil's advocate here: Stunt crew is crew therefore not cast. So she may be credited as crew, but she could be uncredited cast.
After all, we track Peter Jackson's appearances in LOTR even though he's credited as director. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | That's her on the set. So if you could identify her and provide a time-stamp then I think it would be ok to include her as an uncredited cast member. But on the flip-side this could open up cases where well known stunt people could be added if someone could provide a time stamp of their appearance in a film/tv episode. Do we want to include stunt people/body doubles/stand-ins if they can be identified too? I guess I'm on the fence on this one. But to be on the safe side I think local only is the best way to treat her appearance in this film. | | | Last edited: by CubbyUps |

After all, we track Peter Jackson's appearances in LOTR even though he's credited as director. While stund crew are crew, they are performing crew...meaning their job, like an actor's job, is done in front of the camera. Peter Jackson's crew job is behind the camera, so I don't think the two care comparable. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Could she be both a stunt double (credited but we don't record those) and a performance double (uncredited, but may be recorded with sufficient evidence)?
Just playing devil's advocate. I'd keep it local if at all. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | It would certainly make things a lot easier if she were not credited at all. But the whole 'stunt double' thing opens it up to confusion, which is why I asked. I will leave it for now. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think it's actually possible to identify her within the film. Most of the stunt ballet work had Natalie Portman CGI'd overtop of the doubles used to perform the harder work. So even though we may be seeing a stunt double, to my knowledge, all of the time you'll be seeing Natalie Portman's face at the very least, making it highly unlikely to identify anyone else (they even have a video of it on the blu-ray and online I do believe). | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | Tweeter said it exactly as it needed to be said. She IS credited in the crew, as a stunt double, therefore by definition, she should not be listed as uncredited cast |
