Antoine Deschamps is listed in "Knowing" CLT 2-15 ,
Anthoine Deschamps in "Avatar" CLT 2-63.
First released was "Knowing", so I think it's Antoine Deschamps, but is this correct?

How about: The one with the more profiles?

But this always a bad situation.

All the info I can find suggests that Antoine is the correct spelling, even BUF's official site spells it that way. So I would go on the assumption that Anthoine is a typo and that further credits will be correctly spelled.
Or you could just wait for Ken to release 3.8 with a (hopefully) proper linking system.

Wrong, it's a valid variant:

Andre Lloyd Miller
Andre Jones
Andre Smith

Gerard Butler
Gerard Hoffnung
Gerard ONeill

Maybe misspelled.  To think that the accented way is the only way is just plain wrong.

In the case of this thread, we are speaking of a French crew member, working for BUF Compagnie. Agassi is not French , as long as I know..., as are not Andre Smith or Gerard Butler.

It is amazing that people have not yet understood that spelling is specific to one language, and something correct in one language is not in another. So for a name, you have to read it in the language of the concerned person. Perhaps Anthoine is correct somewhere in the world. It is not in French, as are not Andre, Gerard or Francois.

No this thread was about the possible misspelling in 1 movie of a crew member.  Not about what you are perceiving as a transformation error outside of the movie credits.

Correct me if I am wrong, his name is Antoine.  As far as I know, Anthoine is incorrect.  Imagine that, an actual error within the film credits.

In the online, it is
Antoine (Knowing)
Anthoine (Avatar)

Since we can prove that Anthoine is actually misspelled in the credits, I would credit Antoine Deschamps (Anthoine Deschamps).  You must capture the actual credit, even though it is misspelled.  Hopefully, other movies will come out to clear the CLT (or maybe ver 3.8 )

No, Andre, Gerard or Francoi are not typo, and you know very well...
They are alternative way to write a name.

Anyway, even if a name credited with a typo is the most widley used credit for us that is our common name.

Not at all. For French names, they are spelling mistakes. The fact that those typos are voluntarily made to follow a rule does not change the fact that they are spelling mistakes.

Who derailed the thread ? Northbloke said he made the assumption Anthoine was a typo, and I confirmed that. All the rest began since some users cannot see a post from me without trying to demonstrate I'm wrong.

And if you want  a proof about what I wrote, this took 5 seconds to find on google :

To make the fight complete:
Anthoine does also exist as name, but as far as I found out as last name.
Example.

I could also life with the suggestion taking the correct spelling in such examples. But there's always the possibility the mistake will also be made in further movies, so there would be a change needed according the current use of the common name.

This is what I am talking about. There was no need to mention Andre, Gerard or Francois again and make the statement that they are typos. Nobody would have responded without you throwing those names in again.
